How to use a gamepad in AM-created games

Postby Lyberodoggy » Tue Oct 27, 2009 5:03 pm

I found this program, which simulates mouse clicks and movement and keyboard actions using a gamepad: http://www.electracode.com/4/joy2key/JoyToKey%20English%20Version.htm

It's very easy to use and adjust. I 'd recommend adding it to your projects' external folder along with a config file with the settings for each button you can generate with the program itself. Ask the player if they want to use a controller, then use the OpenFile command to run the program. Used in conjuction with ShadowHunter's KG plugin it can give you the ability to control everything with your pad.

I hope the rest of the devs will use it. I definitely will in a future project...
(basically I found it while looking for a way to control my computer using my wireless controller, but since I always wanted to make a plugin to support gamepads, I thought it would be nice to tell you guys about it)

Good find Lyberodoggy.
I had started on one but never got far into it.
Be surprise what you can do with autoit.
Please don't PM me questions, ask here in the forums!

Actually if you try to create a controller simulator from scratch you are gonna need to work with DirectX6 and stuff like that...
