DEVELOPER'S LOG
1/9/2009- I will finish a storyline for approval tonight, or tomorrow morning. Then people can read it and suggest changes. After this, I will need a name for the game, and then finally a rough draft website to host this developer's log, storyline, and screenshots as they come in.

I guess

Am I right that such thing is sort of in progress under the Working Together point? By the way, still a nice idea here, I hope you can get it organised :)

I 've already proposed that, but almost none wanted to help... I 'm in for the programming if this ever takes place

I could be one of the artists. I'm in.

I'd be a programmer, but I'm not that good at it. I'll take the misc.

I can programme or produce music...

I'd say music is more Harvester's speciality, so I'll programme. But if you're stuck for a musician I'll take that role too...

3D artist- that's me! Count me in.

I think we're pretty much set. I'll start planning out some ideas. Maybe since everybody is working on it, we try to make a different genre like RPG.

Well

Well, I'm in by the way :) Sorry for signing up later than when I was put on the list

Really? I was thinking of a regular point and click Adventure Maker game, but the quality of Riven, or a good 360 degree cubic panorama game.

A good hybrid game could also show off what AM is capable of

Yes, exactly. You want to mix stuff up, not just have it like a copy of all the other games made, but you want to stick with the Adventure genre. Maybe though the programmers could throw in a feature or two from a RPG, just to change it up SLIGHTLY. Well, I like the idea of a third person game or a 360 degree game.

An RPG?

Well, in my next installment of 100 VB Techniques (which seems to be taking forever), I have code for making an RPG life bar. Between myself and Lyberodoggy we should be able to programme anything you need...

Well third person isn't what AM was designed for... anyways. Code for lifebar exists already in the forums... It's under topic Stress meter in post your own tutorials

I didn't know that...

Well I have my own code anyway... :)

So maybe a 360 degree game and maybe implement the health bar and KeyGuard to show off all the great features.

Sounds good to me. Of course, a health bar implies fighting, so depending on the story and what kinds of enemies you're fighting, I may or may not work on this. Then again, you could put me on the story team, but then it wouldn't be much of an fighting game.

I doesn't have to be a primarily fighting game...

It could be a game made up of Zelda-style puzzles with elements of fights from RPGs thrown in...

There's loads of ideas.

exactly...

I'll draw up a possible story.

Well, in that case, can I be on the story team? :)

Well we can compare the codes and use the best parts :P

My code doesn't work with panoramas though :(

Zenoc,

The graphics will still be like 3d adventure games, maybe we will get rid off the 360 degree idea. But if you would still like to be on the story team, you can.

Ok. Quick question though- why get rid of the 360 degree panorama idea? We are putting this together this in AM, right? I can make 360 degree cubic panorama images with SketchUp and my renderer, it's just that it won't be for commercial use.

Anywho, I'll gladly be a part of the story team. Do you already have the basic idea for the story worked out?

I was thinking of having an action/adventure storyline with many small puzzles thrown in (like picking locks or using the slider puzzle). You could be assigned by a special agency to search a town for a thief's home, pick the lock, use tublers and dials to open a safe, and steal back the items stolen.

Just an idea. I know how to do lock-picking puzzles, if anyone needs it.

Well, the designers can come up with any idea and we (programmers) will try to make it happen...

The storyline if I 've got it right will be based on the winning story of BbB's writting contest (read the latest installment of the Magazine)

Zenoc: We got rid of the 360 degree idea before you made your post

Lyberodoggy: It might be, but if we want to start earlier we can froget about that.

Yes, I would LOVE to make a few puzzles in it, and I have a great idea for a state of the art puzzle, I'll PM the programmers about it to see if it's possible. But here's a basic idea maybe:

There was a mercenary for the Dutchy Of Fallos named Simenaus Cretanius. One day, his brother was kidnapped. Simenaus was outraged since he was very close to his brother. Then the next day, he was summoned to the city of Fallos. He was escorted into a very dark room with only two candles near the door. A deep, booming voice echoed in the chamber:
"Simenaus, by offical decree you are to be sent to the far off land of Zaneroc, to find the Pebble of Zaneoc, a rock that was folk lore till our historians found it was true. If you suceed, you may see your brother again, but if you fail, far worse may happen to your beloved sibling."

Like it? It can get changed or turned down, just an idea.

could use it...

Sorry, I missed the thing about 360 coding problems the first time around. Oh well. That'll make things a bit easier on me too.

Neat idea. Doesn't sound like the kind of story I would write, so I'll just be a 3D artist. As for everyone who is on the story team, it would be a good idea to let them know all of the details, such as why the rock is so important.
