How to block a part of my map ????

Hello everybody, i need your help
i have a forest map with a road accross the forest. i would like to do my character follow the road, but my pbs is my character walk across my map and walk over all the trees. how can i do to oblige my character to follow the road and how can i do to block the others parts where there are trees to avoid my character walk above??? is it possible? i need a solution like in rpg maker to block way part of a map is it possible in adm??
