My initial doubts ?

Postby PINGO TINTO » Sat Jun 20, 2009 1:34 am

I'm doing my first game and then wanted to know if I can get my game here in the Adventure Maker?
And also wanted to know how many MB you can do this game and can go with sounds, animations and etc ...

And also wanted to know some things about Cubic Panoramic?

I tried but the images were not certain well?
The Cubic Panoramic one days will be able to join as a purchase of tools of Adventure Maker Full

If you can post your game here on the forums?
Sure :)
You can announce your game here, and also post games that you have finished:
http://www.adventuremaker.com/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=5
Make sure you add 1-2 screenshots (images) of the game.

The demo game by CBSection is already 500 MB, and the full game will be much more. So you can create really big games. It's just a question how many players will download huge games :)

I'm not sure what you are asking about the Cubic Plugin.
What do you mean with "images were not certain well"?
There have been problems for some graphic cards, but I think that for most computers those problems are fixed now, if you mean this.
Here was the announcement of the beta version (the first post contains some very good tips and links to tutorials):
http://www.adventuremaker.com/phpBB2/vi ... php?t=3588
And here is the announcement of the final version:

Just to add to the information about potential file size, I estimate that the final version of my upcoming game will be around 7 GB, and I haven't encountered ANY problems.

From a programming perspective, Adventure Maker can handle an essentially limitless amount of media, since everything is contained in separate files. Adventure Maker simply "organizes" all of the files, calling them as needed. It never, however, compiles them all together (except for the installer), and so there are, to my knowledge, no hard-coded limits.

7 GB? wow, thats huge. You have to ask yourself if anyone will take the time to download such a large file. Or did you mean MB?

He meant GB, his demo is already about 500 MB as mentioned previously ;)
But for such a file size, I think I'd rather get CD's/DVD to be honest.

Ya i think so too...only cause it will limit the amount of ppl who will play it..Including dial up users..
Sounds like its going to be quite a game..!:D I know C.S.I. games are like 2-3 Gigs..which is a big game..But there are 5 in one...I love long games myself..I like them especially if they take me days to complete..giving me something to do on boring nights..usually in the winter..:D

Peace

The game will be on DVD, so no downloads required. I may be able to squeeze the size down by a gig or two, as well. :)

I'm planning on a price of around $14.99. Of course, if my game is picked up by a publisher, then that will change and I won't have any control over price.

But I'm hijacking this other person's thread, so I'll stop talking here. :)

Good night.

Thank you all for explanation.

At the moment I am starting to do my game, but is a bit difficult to start.
Well I do not know the game will have a menu and items, or will be Riven in the game type that was just need solving puzzles to advance in the game.

When you have done a little of the game, the methodology link here in forum for those who want to see and play.

Until another day.
