animated gif or avi

just a quick question I am building a scene 800 * 600 which will be a video. Which would be better an animated gif or an avi

if your animations are short, AVI is better. The problem with AVI is the file size.
If you plan on having lengthy videos, then I would suggest using MP4 and adding a 3rd party codec package like K-Lite (see http://codecguide.com/ ).
When you are ready to compile and distribute your game, you will have the opportunity to add K-Lite during the process.
Users will automatically be asked if they want to load K-Lite when they run the install and if they allow it to be loaded, your game will work without any effort from the user and most importantly, your videos will be sharp and file size small!
