combine into one file or exe

Postby Sunny Day » Tue Jan 13, 2009 9:22 pm

I outputted the iphone app, its a load of html files, it looks untidy, there is a heap of these html files, I think the launch file was index.html.

Any way I want to sell my app, not have a directory that's loads of html files and the user guess which to click to run it, basically its like you have saved a bunch of web files, or a web site to your HD. If I'm going to sell this it needs to look more tidy. I want people to use my app and they are not going to like running though files looking for something, it would be better to have one icon, press it and it runs the program. for windows web files their are programs to combine files into one exe. I am not sure if they will run on the iphone, this is something that really needs addressing, I also have to look at some form of copy protection, I'm not sure if services will combine files into a single protected file. I'm really at a loss right now, I have the web app but this needs putting together so one can sell it. Just what can we do here? having a directory full of web pages looks bad when one is expecting the customer to pay for the product. What can we do to make this better.

If there are any self-extracting software for iPhone, you can use that...

EDIT: found something http://www.iphonehellas.gr/tag/installer-v4/

well if this doesn't work you can create something on java, if iPhone supports it

You can restrict the access to your game to only the people who purchased it.

For example, if your website is www.yourwebsite.com, you could have two versions of your game:

www.yourwebsite.com/free
where anyone can play the demo of your game

and

www.yourwebsite.com/full
where access is restricted to the people who purchased your game. You can easily restrict access by changing the properties of your hosting provider (go to the administration panel).

I dont think people will buy access to a web page, which is what A M apps are when released for iphone. So you either try and wrap them with phonegap. I had to shell out for a apple mac to do that, thats coming in the mail, so how well it wraps an AM app I dont know yet, or if it will work, my second option if it doesnt work is the unity engine, it will cost me 400 pounds for an indie license and the iphone license version of the engine, then I have to re build what I did in Adventure Maker in that engine. Adventure Maker being able to make iphone apps is not correct at all, it makes a web page, and iphone can read web pages, when everyone thinks of running an app on Iphone they mean native apps. Its flase advertising really. I wish I had known the AM makes web pages before I made my un sellable app in it, and I would of either made a PC app, or just gone out and bought an engine for the iphone.

I think it's not hard to figure out what is behind the "Create Games for iPhone" announcement on the website. If you click that link, you can read right at the beginning:

In addition to creating software for Windows, Adventure Maker Free Edition (v4.4 or newer) is capable of creating software that can be played on the iPhone and the iPod touch through the built-in Safari web browser.

Though I can understand your frustration, it is always recommended to read a few lines about the software that you are planning to use (its features and limitations), before you start a big project with it. :)
