littleTown

Postby dk627 » Wed May 03, 2006 11:00 pm

Its a small game i made.
As of now, its finished, if people like it then i might add on to it.

Download:
http://dkserver.net/littleTown.exe

if you like it, let me know, if you dont like it, let me know
comments/question always welcome
its pretty short, i just wanted to get used to the scripting language in AM
my next game will probably be longer but i need an idea for it so if you got any that would be great

thanks
dave

UPDATE: You no longer have to download the DivX codec for my program to work, i have converted my files using windows1 codec, they are bigger, but make it easier for the end user to run the game

Ooops, it says it can not be found

Hehe, I have the opposite situation: I got some ideas and some players are asking me if I could make such and such a game, send me basic plots etc.

Yes, I have tried it. And I must say that I really liked it :)
It's such a cute and funny game. And you have some features that I liked especially (like using my name as player). This was a great game and it would be wonderful to see where the family moves and have there also some continuation!
Great work!

Well, after they have moved in their new home, the player could get to know the new neighbors and e.g.
- save a cat from a tree
- find the money of the neighbor who has buried it 20 years ago and doesn't exactly remember where
- ... (I have to think about it myself  )

It would be great if the game was a bigger challenge. Right now it is very linear and you don't have to take much decisions or figure out things. Something like that in the second part (at the new location) would make your game even better.

yeah, i deffinately want to make it more challenging
in the next town ill probaly have the house arranged in rows so you could walk behind them to find things/explore
i like the idea about the cat and the money and will probably use both of them
i might try to make a "popularity meter" where you have to accomplish tasks and if you fail or dont do too many the other people banish you from the town
anyway, thanks for the ideas, you have no idea how much that helped, once i get a couple ideas like that, my brain starts working again and i get a whole lot more so thanks

Well i pretty much created my own
ill be improving it much more when i start the next part
i plan on having how people talk to you depend on your popularity meter (see above post) and might even have some tasks depend on it also, this way if you dont complete the one task, you are then given an easier one to give you a chance at continuing the game
anyway, is that what you meant by AI? which i assume is artificail intelligence

I like your idea of a popularity meter, that sounds very interesting. I see that you have new ideas, I wish you the best for part 2 and let us know when it is ready (or if you need ideas  ). :)

Hi,

Now that the spyware problem has been solved, I have recovered this topic.

Like many of us, I have known dk627 (previously named "dek entertainment") for years now. Thank you for being part of the AM community for so long!

Your game is very nice, congratulations!

Best regards,

The game is a bit messed up. It keeps bringing up pop-up boxes.

did you install the DivX codec?
After you install the DivX codec, you must UNinstall the DivX player, it interferes with AM's sound interface

Also, did the message state what files you were missing? When did you get the error? What hot spots aren't working? What type of computer are you running?

If anyone else is getting this error could you let me know?

The littleTown project was "canceled", however that was when i though there were no bugs in it, i plan on fixing the bugs and then stopping the development for at least a year
