third person games, limitation?

Postby terrektwo » Mon Aug 04, 2008 7:14 pm

In third person games can you make a hotspot/ path for the character to walk that isn't a square? I want him to move in only certain parts of the screen. Can you draw freehand a hotspot or path? or is there any way to do it?

Hi there...:)

I'm working on one myself right now..and have discovered..that you can make him walk to a certain coordinate though..If he is walking on stuff..You can double up the pictures so that it appears he is walking around it..

Not sure if that is what u are looking for...I made smaller hotspots also..so that when he walks to it..he is only standing in the actual spot..

Also, in the hotspots properties if you don't want him to walk to it..don't check off the option in the properties..and only the user can click there..and not have him walk there..

Hope that helps..If you want him to appear also in the next frame..at a certain place..In the frame you want him to appear at the certain place..Put your mouse on the frame..and you will see X and Y coordinates at the top of frame...Remember them..

go the the Frame before where the arrow is to make him go to the next frame..and put in the Next Frame coordinats the exact place..so when the user clicks the arrow to go to the next frame..the Sprite will be exactly there..

You can kinda use this too for the actual hotspots also..Only i discovered I had to make them small...

Hope that helps a bit..:)

That would be cool to have the exact path mapped out..but I have managed to find work arounds..

Peace
Adieux~
