"Invalid procedure call or argument" error

Postby Mystery » Sun Aug 03, 2008 10:15 am

Hi all,

I was wondering if any of you have an idea for the cause of this:
A member on another forum has created an .am1 file.
Most players have no problems to play it, but there are two people who get an "Invalid procedure call or argument" error when they want to start the game.
They've updated to the latest free version of AM, but get the same message.
Also by trying to right click it, and start it with the AM Player leads to the same result. I've run out of ideas, and would appreciate to hear your ideas on this problem.

EDIT
Happened with a second .am1 file created by the same person again :?

Thanks in advance :)

Hmmm... There is a possibility that some of the variables aren't initialized and they are used as arguments in some Procedure. But since it's .Am1 it uses no VB at all except for the program itself...

So there's nothing WE can do about it... Maybe uninstalling the whole program, then install it properly... dunno.

Thanks Lyberodoggy :)

Those 2 persons have done that already - re-installed the latest free version of AM already, and both get still the same error message :?

Btw, those 2 persons had no problems so far with my .exe files, and they don't have Chinese or Japanese pc's.

I'll wait to see if ShadowHunter or GM have an idea or a theory :)

Btw, both are Vista users, but other Vista users had no problems...

EDIT
One of the players has finally been able to load the .am1 file.
Their experience:

I have had problems running .am1 games but it seems that I managed to make it work somehow. The .am1 file would not load unless I got the screen that demanded admin permission. Otherwise I kept getting an error essage.
When I got the admin permission window up, it worked fine

It looks like the problems been solved, but I just thought I'd do a bit of advertising here...

Technique 27 of my 100 Visual Basic Techniques deals with this error (and many others), so when I update it, maybe it will become clearer.
