Audio Dialog

Postby kerrin » Sun Jun 14, 2009 3:15 pm

So I want to have all my dialog spoken.
As far as I can tell I need to use VB to do this, but the problem with that is that I want this game to be online, and only the Windows executable version supports VB.

Help, this application does everything else I need really simply, but this one issue means I won't be able to use AM.

I guess I could use loads of hotspots and varaibles to do this, but that seems unmaintainable.

Welcome to the forums kerrin :)

As mercedes mentioned, the HTML feature as well as the iPhone/iPod features are currently limited.
It is though possible to manage either background sound, or one sound per frame, but I don't think that spoken dialogues can be implemented at the moment easily or at all. :(
I don't know enough of javascript programming to tell you whether the source code of an HTML game could be changed to achieve what you want to.

EDIT
I don't know if this could be helpful or not:

Thanks for your responses. It seems like you have confirmed my fears, that this wonderful application that does almost everything I need is missing the most important feature to me.

It a real shame as if this supported audio dialogs I would be able to do what I want really quickly.

I actually got audio diaglogs working, but only using the VB option which is only Windows executable, which is going to cut out upto half of my audience (the target audience is above average Mac users)

Looks like I have to start from scratch with Flash. :(

My only chance is if the developers add these features, so no chance really. :(

I do hope very much that the HTML feature of AM will be extended with new features, but as long as it is based on javascript, I'm afraid that sounds will pose a problem.
