Help turning the wheel...

Postby xerilon » Sun Jan 03, 2010 1:20 am

I have finally learned how to navigate through some scenes, adding hotspots and triggered sounds and video files, and now I am about to make my first puzzle.
I know I need some basic scripting, but I don't know which foot to start walking with.

I want to make something like the three lock wheels on the classic suitcase.
Then I want to have hotspots on either side of each wheel and make the wheels turn one step for each mouse click in the desired direction.
Now I have lots of wheels and each wheel has some 35 different positions, and that makes for a lot of images. Since the wheels are stacked pretty close to each other I have to make use of gifs with transparency.
What is the best way to code this, and how, would be a couple of questions.

Any hints, tips or tricks to help a noob?

Your best bet is to browse the Tutorial section of the forum...to help with scripting puzzles..:D

However, there is one I think that had a briefcase in mind when creating it..~ If you scroll down to the bottom..you will find a zipped demo..

Xerilon, my advice would be to make this puzzle in Flash. Even though Adventure Maker is capable of creating this type of puzzle, it will be a LOT easier to do in Flash, given the number of images/positions you will need...especially if you want to animate the change in positions! :)
