Would like to get some help in accessing objects

Postby DarkWizard02 » Mon May 15, 2006 10:33 pm

Hi, there.

Thanks for reading. I would like to know if the following are possible:

1. Making a hotspot with a picture invisible during video playing. Is there an intelligent way to make the hotspots invisible during playback and to sense when the playback is over to make the hotspots visible again?
2. Changing the speed of an animated gif during run-time
3. Hiding/showing questions in the Dialog Wizard using script
4. Moving an animated gif. I tried moving the hotspot, but it doesn't seem to work for animated gif. A static picture works fine.

Thanks in advance.

#4 - A while ago, Riobrios76 posted an aquarium demo with a moving hotspot on it that used VB scripting. Perhaps one could use a totally transparent GIF with Rosary's script to move the hotspot, and then assign a series of GIFs to the hotspot with the GIF Sequence Player plug-in.
Might be worth a try.

Rosary's demo is here --> http://www.adventuremaker.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=3950&highlight=#3950

Edit: Okay I tried this and it worked. I substituted a transparent GIF file for the one in Rosary's demo, I put my animation gifs in the /Areas folder, initiated the GIF sequence plug-in, and filled in the plug-in info for the selected frames. The GIF sequence "played" while moving across the screen.

#2 - Not sure exactly what you're trying to do, but a rough workaround might be to use identical frames, each with the GIF sequence running at different speeds in the hotspot, then use the Frame Properties/Enable timer to GoTo the second frame after a set amount of time... or use the Hotspot Properties to GoTo the second frame when the hotspot is clicked.

Thanks for replying. I'll definitely give that a try to see what happens.
