When I drag an item onto a hotspot, the icon is removed but at the same time, another icon is added. When this happens, the first icon is morphed with the second one, but the morphed icon is treated as the second icon.

Sounds like a users error.

Qtip5, to be honest, I don't understand your second sentence.
What exactly do you want to do, and what does go wrong?

The second is placed over the first icon
but it is treated as the second icon
"morphed"
I'm trying to get the second icon to replace the first icon

But if I understand correctly, the first icon doesn't get removed really, right?
Did you try to replace the first item by the second item using the hotspot properties, or by using scripting?
And how did you do it exactly?
Giving us as much details as possible might give us a chance to figure out where the problem could be.

With out seeing the code thats all I could say.
you really need to give more info about the problem and what you are doing to that part of the game.

I see. Yes, try it again, and if you experience problems, try to describe what exactly you did.
Good luck!

oh
hahahaha
It turns out that the "morphed icon" was just one icon with the outline of the first icon
I must have made that mistake while designing the icon
