Problem with the videos inside hotspots

Postby binhotinto » Sun Jun 15, 2008 2:20 pm

I'm trying to put some videos playing inside hotspots and I've noticed that
if I put a video starting with the hotspot appearece the video looses his quality, and if I use the code
Code: Select all
PlayVideo GetPath(xx) + "yy.avi", 0,0,0,0, False
when clicking hotspots it appens the same.

Only if I put in the hotspot properties, "When the hotspot is clicked, do de following", only this way the video keeps his original quality.

I've noticed this beacuse I'm trying to make a scene where I have a TV and a Remote, and when I click the Channel1 hotstpot, the TVScreen hotspot starts to play a video, the video starts fine but the quality is real bad :\

I used windows movie maker to make a short video using text only and added it to my game. It wouldnt play as wmv so i converted it to avi.

Neeless to say the quality was so bad when I added it to a hotspot that I didnt use it.

I didn't much like the video made with moviemaker..but what did make a good video is the software that comes with my cam..If you have a cam, it usually comes with video software and they play ok videos..

Peace~

Hi,

The AVI extension is just a wrapper: the quality then depends on the underlying CODEC that you use for the AVI.

Have you tried converting it to a DivX AVI, or to an XVid AVI ?

(XVid is particularly convenient because you can distribute the codecs without any copyright problems)
