Create Timed Event~

Postby mercedes » Sun Jul 27, 2008 10:15 am

Hi there..:)

AM i able to create a timed event..or if that is even the way to go with a "message" or it may be an "action"...like say I want to user to click on the object..after the sprite has spoken..Basically the sprite will tell the user..You take this item..and at that point..the user can click the item..

Not a variable I want for this.......I think.....the item is visible..:)
Also not using normal inventory...

Not sure if this makes sense..:? I'm a bit tired..it seems obvious to me..but i can't think ..LOL.

Many Thanks..!~

Peace..
Adieux..~

You can disable the hotspot in the frame's properties and then make a Timed event that enables it. I think you know the way :)

I think this code should work:
Code: Select all
Hotspot(index).enable=False
CreateTimedEvent yourtime,"hotspot(index).enable=true"

I tried that many times..you can't create a timed event this way...

these are the codes i'm working with ..all the live long night..lol..

Frame properties

Code: Select all
Hotspot(1).enable=False
Action.Message "Looks like a briefcase, and heavy. Can you take it?"

Hotspot properties
Code: Select all
CreateTimedEvent 4,"hotspot(1).enable=true"
Attache_Taken = 1
Action.Message "Thanks!"

I don't beleive you can create a timed event with that....doesn't support this method..or it's missing something..
I've also tried putting it all together...both in the frame props and hotspot props..

*EDIT*I see the mistake in the code..[enabled]but its still not working right..I'll keep working with it..but I did last night, it ended up frustrating me more than anything so i shut it down..:P

Thanks for response~

If you add a timed event to the Hotspot Properties, the action will take place after the number of seconds that you've chosen - AFTER clicking the hotspot (clicking the hotspot will start the "countdown").
If you disable a hotspot in the frame properties, you won't be able to click it in order to trigger the timed event.
