Fonts put in game..

Postby mercedes » Tue Aug 12, 2008 9:31 am

I have installed fonts on my pc..that i use with AM..by way of right clicking on the frame...I know I have to find the way to install them on the user's pc..but was wondering.. what they will look like to the user..if I don't..Will it just change to a font they have and still be able to read it..or will it be ineligible..

Many Thanks!

~:)~

If it calls for your font and they don't have it they will receive an error.

You can install them using the step by step installation creator and adding them to the extra files to be installed. I think it's root...

You have to be careful with fonts as all are not free.
You can only use fonts that are free to use .

Hey Candle,

I deleted my previous post so that i could post again here...I have found this thread on how to install fonts on the user's end PC..only I cannot find this file it refers too...PROJECTNAME.ISS
From the sounds of what is said..it can only be done during compiling time...not sure..:? and I gather It opens with Notepad?
Is it possible that this could be done before Compiling..Like now for instance..?
Here is the thread..

The following tutorial will tell you how to setup the installer of your game so that it will install a font on the end-user computer.

1. When you are ready to compile your project, click "Distribute (create exe)" and then click "Start Distribution".

2. Click OK until you get the following message: "Adventure Maker is now ready to create a setup file for your project. The process may take a few minutes."

3. For the moment, do NOT click OK. With Notepad, edit the file "PROJECTNAME.ISS" that is located inside the Adventure Maker folder (i.e. the folder in which you have installed Adventure Maker).

4. You will notice that there is a secton called [Files]. Just add the following line to that section:

Code:
Source: "c:\windows\fonts\MYFONT.TTF"; DestDir: "{fonts}"; FontInstall: "FONTNAME"; CopyMode: onlyifdoesntexist; Flags: uninsneveruninstall

(where you must replace MYFONT.TTF with the name of the file that contains the font information, and FONTNAME with the name of the font itself. For example, replace MYFONT.TTF with OZHANDIN.TTF, and FONTNAME with "Oz Handicraft BT")

5. Now save and close the file. Go back to Adventure Maker and click OK to resume the creation of the setup file.

Yep that's when it makes it when it is going to compile .
Edit the file and save it back to the same file.
Mess it up and your game will not install.
But then you just have to compile it again.
