Few quastions?

Postby Abi » Fri Jun 04, 2010 6:34 pm

Hello all

I am new here. I found adventure maker 2 days ago and downloaded demo to try it. I will ask you few quastions (maybe stupid :)), but it can means a lot to me.

I am not programer (I'm designer) so that is the part where I would like to use adventure maker. You all know old school games like Phantasmagoria, Gabriel Knight The Beast Withing etc... Or like Imaginarium?

Is it possible to do something like that in AM? But I mean to be like that or even better (graphic etc)? I saw there is point & click and panoramic, what I think it can looks pretty good if you make good 3D. Is it possible to make and some smal animations in background? (put gif?)

Is it possible to make large inventary, to put animations in between (like in Phantas you click to go out than movie starts how he goes out etc.). Many dialogs, sounds etc.?

I will love to start little bigger project and looking for some program (like Am I hope) what can help me, because programing is not my main field.

If all that is possible, to buy it and start working :). I will go now to test little this demo.

Hope I didn't put this in wrong section

Thanks

Regards

Welcome to the forums! :)

Basically this is all possible with AM, but I think you wouldn't get around of some scripting.
There are a lot of plugins available for AM that'll help you, but sometimes you'll have a need to change something for your own need.
But in the forum you'll get help if you need.

Thanks man.

Only what is matter is that to be possible something like that :). But really possible. Didn't have much time to try it out, but I hope I will start tonight few things.

Project I will love to do is little bigger, I will love to make long lenght adventure graphic will probably be full 3D (I mean background, intro animations and animations in between), maybe there will be and some real footage. My friend is profesional sound designer, so there is no problem and for audio part. I do graphic part, but problem can be programing (some serious programing :)), because that I found adventure maker :)

Welcome to the forums Abi :)

It seems that you and your friend have the necessary resources.
I agree with juhuwoorps that AM is an easy to use tool, even if you have to use a bit of scripting in case you wish to customize something for your game. You don't need to be a programmer for that at all - we have many members who started out without any scripting knowledge, and soon even they started to write scripting tutorials :)
If you have any questions, the community is here to help out :)

Enjoy trying out AM, and creating your projects!

Am new also, and had a little go with the demo. Seems a lot more user friendly than AGS, which I've been scripting on recently. Just wondering if you could make a 2D third-person point and click adventure (inventory, animations, characters etc) for the iphone?
Similar to Sam and Max or Monkey Island.
Or is it restricted to PC only?

Many thanks.

Apologies, just checked a link in an older post:
http://www.adventuremaker.com/features_ ... _touch.htm
Seems iphone is quite disadvantaged, no sound, video, inventory :/

Welcome to the forums shwar :)

Yes, iPhone games created with AM are at this time limited compared to the pc games.
