Font Warning

Postby GORDON » Tue Apr 17, 2012 2:43 pm

A warning message appears if the users fonts are not standard. It states that you can proceed if you wish but why would you want the user to proceed if the game is unplayable and you can't exit the game? Can the proceed button be disabled or blocked out in the warning box? Where can you find the warning message box to change it?

I would think your best best would be to install the fonts on the user end..this way no error...

The fonts are not the real problem. All hotspots are in the wrong place and the frames are oversized making your game unplayable.

..really...>...Has this been happened before..? Are you running windows 7?...

I could see hotspots being slightly moved...but frames over-sized..?

Do you think this has to do with the fonts...or something else..?

When the display settings are set by the user to large or medium fonts/icons it affects the entire game. I have windows 7. Try it yourself on an AM game or the AM program with your own system.

Is your resolution set to 1024*780-----where the user can change it--before starting the game..

Any chance that you're doing that..? or is your rez set automatically..?

..Hm..well I know there are issues and limitations with Large Fonts..Ppl that use large fonts..are not supported..Assuming this is what you mean.. I'm pretty sure we spoke of this a while back..It seems familiar..

Medium fonts..shouldn't be an issue though..
Maybe you can put a message..telling users otherwise..?

I'm still wondering where the warning box is located and if I can change the look of the the "proceed anyway" button to look blank. It's such a nuisance for users to shut down their computers every time they play your game to revert to standard fonts/icon or worse, proceed and get stuck in the unplayable game with no apparent exit.. I wonder what other engines do to avert this issue. Thanks for your ideas anyway.

The warning box you speak of..is part of Windows..not AM..And even if the button was blank..They could still press it..and it would react the same way..

Also, they should still be able to press Esc..or CTRL + Q

I wonder what other engines do to avert this issue.

Other engines..most likely support Large Fonts.

It might be best to put a message where the user downloads the game..Simply telling them to make sure they are using Normal sized fonts/icons before playing..

Similar to when we to leave a message that says..Window users supported only

Ijust thought if it was blank, they would have no reason to notice it & would just exit the warning.
Thanks for your ideas!
