Can't open Projects that come with AM

Postby mercedes » Thu Jun 07, 2012 6:39 am

..Well.. this is new...

I can't open any games that come with AM. It says it's copy right protected. Contact the authors.

The Memory Game..That I can open..But i can't even begin to describe what is in the procedures tab.

This is just some of it...what's going on??

Code: Select all
CWupk5)6-QA&a3UhYc/jM1%N3#k,m.3Y3OSA+p'fAo}N{J/9

Obviously copy right protected text...I've always been able to view them before though..All of them..Now I can't open either game.

I contacted GM..

I was just about to upgrade to 4.61...when i saw this..Now I don't know what to do...and would it change anything..

is very strange what you get ..

You may not have anything to do with what happens to you.
After installing a game, which replaced some DLL, the AM did not work.

Uninstall this memory game. And back to an earlier point in Windows. (Start-Programs-accesories-system tool and restore programs).

To try ..

Greetings!

That's very strange. Did you just download these files recently or have they been on your system on this time?

I wonder if there is a registry setting that is not showing your AM as a registered copy? You might have to uninstall AM and reload it.

I want to be clear on this.

You have AM 4.6.1 installed on XP.
When you try to load a project that was made by the AM creator, it says it is copy-righted.
There is 1 of the projects that you could load, "memory game", but it is displaying gibberish instead of the code.

Is this correct?

This game also gives error.
My friends tried to play this game but they say they miss it. http://portugal-3d.dotsi.pt/Nova%20pasta/
A friend told me this:
◦ Coming to the game itself, it gives an error saying that the 3D Adventure Maker (or something similar) was not properly registered, and then the game shuts down

I uninstalled 4.52, and reinstalled 4.61.
So now I have XP, with 4.61 installed.
I installed it to fix these issues I spoke of--copyright , memory game, exe file missing error.. And it did..:)

Only now, XP uses a different media player object. Therefore..I have no sound, video ect..

I'm guessing my only alternative is to go back to 4.52 and hope for the best? :?

Can you edit any of these projects in AM? It wouldn't take long to make them compatible if you can look at the projects in the AM editor.

Hi,

To start let us try this first:

1. VB code is encrypted one of the keys is the date, another the name of the project

2. It looks like the project is not decrypted correctly

3. Create a new project with the same project name

4. Copy all data of the memory game into that project folder

5. Try again

Please let me know how it went...

With best regards,

I'm a bit confused.. :?

I no longer have any of these issues, with the memory game or anything, since I upgraded to 4.61. I'd really like to keep it..lol..

However, like you had mentioned, 4.61 is made for Windows7. I have XP...I'm asking if its possible to keep 4.61.

Can you edit any of these projects in AM? It wouldn't take long to make them compatible if you can look at the projects in the AM editor.

Is it possible to make 4.61 compatible for sounds with XP? Is there a Sound/Video script around for 4.61 and XP..

Yes. 4.6.1 sound and video works in XP. If you want to script the audio or video, then there is new routines that you have to use.

I have XP and 4.61..As it stands now, I have no sounds in any of the projects.

Are these routines readily available? Are you saying I have to filter in each project..into each script..to have sound>?

The projects you are talking about were created in XP right? Those will have to be edited so they don't use the first 8 channels. If you used the sound procedures, you'll have to rewrite the sound procedures with the ones that are compatible with 4.6.1, which would actually be easy to do. Just replace the code, not the name of the procedure.

ORIGINAL:
MediaPlayerObject(2) <-- 2 is the channel (change this to 9)
Code: Select all
Sub PlaySound(FileName, Repeat)
'PlaySound "c:\filename.mp3", False
'If the sound file is located in your "Areas" folder, use the "GetPath(4)" command:
'PlaySound GetPath(4) + "c:\filename.mp3", False
'To Stop a sound: StopSound
Action.LoadControl MediaPlayerObject(2)
MediaPlayerObject(2).FileName = FileName
If Repeat = True Then
MediaPlayerObject(2).PlayCount = 0
Else
MediaPlayerObject(2).PlayCount = 1
End If
MediaPlayerObject(2).Play
End Sub

UPDATED:
Code: Select all
Sub PlaySound(SoundFile, NumRepeat)

   ChannelNumber = 9

   If ChannelNumber < 9 Then
'With VBScript it is currently not possible to interact with the 8 first audio channels.
MsgBox "The specified audio channel is invalid.", vbCritical, "Error"
      Exit Sub
   End If
   If Action.IsComponentInstalled("NSPlay.NSPlayCtl.1") = False Then
MsgBox "Unable to find the media player component.", vbCritical, "Error"
   Else
      If Action.DoesComponentExist("MediaPlayer" + CStr(ChannelNumber)) = false Then
         AddComponent "NSPlay.NSPlayCtl.1", "MediaPlayer" + CStr(ChannelNumber)
      End If
      Component("MediaPlayer" + CStr(ChannelNumber)).Object.FileName = SoundFile
      Component("MediaPlayer" + CStr(ChannelNumber)).Object.PlayCount = NumRepeat
      Component("MediaPlayer" + CStr(ChannelNumber)).Object.Play
   End If
End Sub

Note: if your sound routines had channel as a parameter, then add 8 to the channel at the beginning of the code.

Code: Select all
Sub PlaySound2(FileName, ChannelNumber, Repeat)

   ChannelNumber = ChannelNumber + 8

   If ChannelNumber < 9 Then
'With VBScript it is currently not possible to interact with the 8 first audio channels.
MsgBox "The specified audio channel is invalid.", vbCritical, "Error"
      Exit Sub
   End If
   If Action.IsComponentInstalled("NSPlay.NSPlayCtl.1") = False Then
MsgBox "Unable to find the media player component.", vbCritical, "Error"
   Else
      If Action.DoesComponentExist("MediaPlayer" + CStr(ChannelNumber)) = false Then
         AddComponent "NSPlay.NSPlayCtl.1", "MediaPlayer" + CStr(ChannelNumber)
      End If
      Component("MediaPlayer" + CStr(ChannelNumber)).Object.FileName = SoundFile
      Component("MediaPlayer" + CStr(ChannelNumber)).Object.PlayCount = NumRepeat
      Component("MediaPlayer" + CStr(ChannelNumber)).Object.Play
   End If End Sub

I have exactly copied and pasted what you have up there...other than, the very last code...

I do also have another routine in there..calling for sound..

I'm getting an error saying.. Can't find MediaPlayer(9)

I updated it to use a variable instead of a literal. Not sure why that would make a difference. I also found that it didn't like being at the top of the procedures page, but worked when I moved it down...puzzling...but at least it works.

..Excellent, yes it works!...I have sound....:D..I was just about to uninstall it...and reinstall 4.52..Many thanks!

*************

What if I want to loop sound though...For instance when I use True, instead of False at the end of a sound, I get an error saying;

PlayCount must >=0

I want my sound to loop..in one of my frames..Btw, i can compile now..no problem..so far..:D
