unlocking am issues

Postby AncientRein » Wed Jul 04, 2012 5:00 pm

hi all ,

Recently had a hard drive crash and lost everything.
only had partial backups.
anyways....
was using am 4.61 professional addition , working just fine.

now after installing it on the new computer i keep getting
a " you are using and old version of am" when i am trying to unlock it.

no problems on the old computer and now i just don't know.

have sent e-mails to gm but support is painfully slow :^(

anyone else ever run into this?

thanks

Hello!
I understand that the hard drive erased lost the activation key AM. Do you have the email they sent you when you registered the previous version? There you have the codes to unlock this version of AM.

If you do not have email, you will have to wait for a response from GM.

Greetings and good luck!

thanks for the reply

Yeh , i went to the kagi site and retrieved my instructions

and after seeing it again i recognized the numbers.

so when i try to unlock it I get an "old version of am" message

and the program closes up.

I was running all the 4.x versions on my old machine

and am registered for the pro version

so i just dont know. Ill have to wait i guess.

thanks

Just a try, set back the date of your system and try to register...

thanks shadow.

I had considered that but it screws up my antivirus.

I tried it anyways but it keeps telling me that

" I have entered old registration numbers of am"

But my antivirus has now expired so I have that going for me :^)

Strange cause it all worked fine on the other computer.

oh well

Probably no link with your problem, but if your antivirus is Trend's Internet Security, try to disable it
A bad experience I recently had between AM and Trend...

Hi there..::)
A couple of questions..

Any chance you went from one version of AM to another..;

For instance; Did you go from FREE to non-commercial, to Commercial.?
--- [Which means you have to follow directions of more than one email..]--

Are you trying to install..4.61;..on an XP or Windows7, or, 8..?

*********

Any chance you can get a screen capture of the error..;
***
Be sure to disable all Anti-virus/Malware software..

Well, I can't imagine this cannot be outsmarted...

1. Turn off all live protection (Trend)
2. Uninstall AM
3. Remove everthing in this registery key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VB and VBA Program Settings\Settings
4. Turn back the date arround the date you purchased AM
5. Disable your internet connection
6. Reboot your PC
7. Be sure the time is still set in the past
8. Reinstall the version of AM you initiatly installed (for example 4.5)
9. Register, does it work? If so try to proceed with step 10
10. Try to upgrade

Good luck,

AncientRein:

You did what you commented Shadowhunter?

That version of AM are installing?
When trying to register that message appears?

Let's see if together we can help.

Greetings!
