If you only want to add an image over the background, you could create your own PictureBoxObject, but that is what a HotSpot is in the first place...so...I would suggest using a hotspot unless you have a specific reason for not doing it.

I put the object in as a hotspot. The problem I have is the jpg pic has no transparency. It is a box over the background.
How do I get a jpg pic to blend into the background. It is a pic of an old man sitting in a chair. Png has transparency, but adventure maker doesn't support it.

You can use GIf transparency. I think the latest KeyGuard plugin might support other transparencies, but I can't remember offhand.
