Videos and flash do not work. Structural problem.

Postby janhoman » Thu Oct 15, 2015 3:24 pm

Hello there,

I have a big problem.

I have installed the free version of AM 4.7.1 and since then I got errors when I want to use videos and flash.

Nothing works with the video and flash options about hotspots or otherwise.

This error I got everytime I want to use a video task.

Do any of you know what is wrong here?

In the mean time I am upgraded to the Full package of AM 4.7.1, but nothing changed.

There is no possibility to use any option regarding video and flash.

Kind regards from Jan ( JH )

I've never seen this error. But, I've never used flash videos.

Have you tried using avi or mpeg videos? I have videos for animations in my games and never had any problems.

I haven't used flash videos either. I am using AVI mostly. But I will be converting AVI to MPEG because of the file sizes. This will require adding a codek package with the AM install.
I would suggest trying an AVI file just to see if it works. If it does, then the issue will the the flash file. I'm just guessing, but maybe the flash file you are using is newer and maybe not supported by AM's code for running flash. Not sure, but that would be my first guess.

Let us know what you find out about running an AVI file. Meanwhile, I'll see if I can find a member that has used flash format.

By the way, you'll be better off with the Full version of AM. It will allow you to do more by adding scripts, whether you make your own or use others. You'll see the benefits later as you learn more about it.

Unfortunately, I haven't used flash with AM.

Gif animations should work, at least with AM html export. The only problem with them is that AM does not "rewind" the gif before it is used again. This may or may not be a problem, depending on the case.

-EDIT-

Check this link about my gif animation based project here:

Had a lot of fun making them :)

I'm going to do some experiments with Flash and see if I can get it to work.

...stay tuned!

Update: Okay...It worked for me using the Flash 1.1 plugin.
It was good that you downloaded the full version of AM because you would have needed it to run AM programs containing scripts.

Steps:
1. Be sure to have the Flash 1.1 Plugin
You can find it on the Plugins Library at: http://amforums.cloudapp.net/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=6536&p=36950#p36950

2. From the Project Properties - Plugin tab, check the box for Flash 1.1 plugin
3. From the Frame Properties, plugins tab,
a. check the box for "When the frame is loaded, play a Flash movie"
b. Click on the button to load a flash file
Note: use a "SWF" file. The process will load it into the external folder of the AM project and save a path to it.
Note: I added an "SWF" example file I found on the web.

c. Click on "OK"
4. Test the Frame:
a. Click on "Test Frame (Preview" from the Frame Editor Menu
