I suppose you used Paint and Gradient Filler (maybe also Light Effects?). For the possibilities that are give by this method, it's not bad. However the light-shadow effects seem not to be consistent in the picture. It seems that you rather have played around with Gradient Filler (as I also sometimes do...). But for a more realistic touch you should pay attention to this feature. You could make more of this rather simple screen if you did. It's hard for me to judge your picture with this inconsistency which decreases the quality.

No, not at all! Just use it in a consistent way (and maybe not on every surface, only where it is useful). Look from where the light comes and make the gradients for all objects so that it suits.
