Experimenting 3D to Cartoon

Postby MRM2811 » Wed Jul 29, 2009 3:47 pm

Hey all,

I have been having fun finding programs that allow me to convert 3D images into cartoon like image..( I know it sounds odd, Why would I want to create a cartoon image from a 3D image )..

As most of you know I am graphics adept as a chicken with a crayon,
I have playing around alot with SweetHome 3D, taking snapshots (a nice little feature added in the latest version) and then trying out effects in paint.net. I was trying to make a cartoon style image and well most effects that dealt with cartoon and comic filters really didnt give the effect I was looking for.

Than I used a Ink Drawing filter and bingo, just what I was looking for.
Let me know what you think...

The original image is top .. inked imaged is bottom.

:)

I think it looks great!
I've been using my Sims game engine to make interiors of houses.

You know, SketchUp can give you that same cartoon look if you turn on certain options, no photoshopping required...

*chuckles* Clever, I thought of using the Never Winter Nights Aroura Toolset for the same purpose. Excellent idea using Sim's, never would of thought of that.

Zenoc, I have never been able to get my head around that google sketch up and if I ever did it would probably take me a month to design a house *laughs*...

I like simple tools...

*chuckles* Impressive considering the detail and the amount of time you must put into your work Mercedes.
