What do you think of Window Shades? The options are all the things I think I should have done.

Isn't there a program called Window Blinds?

It's too short, even for a demo.

You should have done more with all that space in the game.

You shouldn't have used original graphics.

Use of the sprite plugin was totally unnecessary for this kind of game. I would have preffered it to be first person.

It needs to have something to drive it forward.

Not the kind of thing that would be of any interest if you knew what to do/not enough happening besides deciding.

You can download a copy of the demo at http://hegel5000.googlepages.com/windowshades. Tell me what you think of it! Use the poll for maximum commenting speed.

Since your poll consist only of negative points I prefer to add my comment in this post.
Though this is not the kind of game that I prefer, it was somehow funny and you have good ideas. For the sprite: I think it wasn't really necessary, but it is still a funny part of your game (I found it cute as it was running around :) ).
Well, the graphics (especially indoors) were too blurry for my personal taste.
All in all my personal view: good ideas and a lot of work of course but I didn't like the graphics too much.
I still wish you a lot of motivation and energy to finish this game :)

I've been having problems.

Thank you very much! I added the negative stuff to the poll because I primarily wanted to see if others agreed with which changes I thought I needed.

` But just wondering, which operating system are you using? A couple of my friends couldn't install it right, saying setup was corrupted.

I'm using Windows XP.
As to my knowledge there are system requirements of the end users given at the AM Help site, this could eventually explain the problems. Maybe you could take a look at it.

Snap, wrong tab. BUT I GOT A NEW DEMO!!!!

Postby hegel5000 » Sat Jun 10, 2006 11:47 pm

http://hegel5000.googlepages.com/windowshadesdemo2.exe

` I'm also trying subliminal advertising. How's this?:

Image

` The message that flashes for 1/10 of each second is "(It's free) | WINDOWSHADES"

` And that last post about Vista? I thought I was posting in another tab for another topic.

` But there's a new demo version out. Now you get to kill Captain Strong, and there's more info on why no one is alive anymore. I'm probably going eventually have some scenes in the [url=http://starmen.net/mother2/] EarthBound world, but with lots of craters and fires from explosions, plus more scenes in Moonside, the halucinogenic realm.

NOW WITH PSEUDOHDR!!!

Postby hegel5000 » Mon Jun 19, 2006 8:58 pm

Hey, y'all. Now I got some some pretty decent graphical shiz' in WindowShades!
` I actually really mean it: now I've included some pseudo HDR, which is actually pretty easy to include in a 2D game! I've made attempts at a bloom effect, and I've made scenes multiple times so that when you're in the brighter area, everything gets darker as your eyes adjust! But to make it truly realistic, I'd have to do multiple versons of a lot more frames, which I might do.
` Now you want windowshadeslostcoastpseudo2dhdrdemo.exe. It also contains more bug fixes.
