The Rapture Chronicles

Postby Qtip5 » Mon Jul 30, 2007 11:15 pm

Rob Smith woke up to the rythmic sound of his ceiling fan. Right now, it was pretty cold but last night he was sweating his ~~didn't mean to swear~~ off, thanks to the fact that he got lucky with a twenty something girl at the local bar. It was quiet as he lay there, asking himself what the heck he was doing, hoping to god that the girl showered and left before his wife got home from the hospital. His wife has cancer. Obviously, Rob is not the kind of guy who is greatful for what he has in this world. He always says how he hates people. So what if, one day, the world became lifeless and empty?

Interesting premise, Qtip5. I like your screenshots and the ones on your website as well. You've got kind of a "Cabinet of Dr. Caligari" thing going on with all the anglular sets and monochromatic color scheme. Very nice.

Good pacing on your intro movie, though the font fading into black on the black background made the writing hard for me to read. You always make good use of music, and the airy swell of sound as the foggy hallway comes into view is a nice touch. I know that your screeching sound as the initial text rolls is intentional.... but you might be in danger of losing your audience, because it's really grating. :P

I'll look forward to playing this when you're done. Good luck with it.

Now I looked at the trailer: it is quite well done, you use music and sounds well, plus I also liked the effect at the corridor when it changes if you understand what I mean. Well done.

Feedback

Postby Harvester » Wed Aug 22, 2007 9:13 am

I played Rapture Chronicles' first episode...
First of all, let me congratulate you for this game. It was definitely one of the best AM games I've played, and it was definitely the one with the most unique atmosphere. I liked the colours, and as always, you used the sounds very good. I feel the story will be quite interesting, and this part was a great introduction of the whole world of Rapture. The only negative thing I could mention that there weren't many puzzles in the game, however this way it is more like a movie, which is a good point again, so..
Thank you for creating such an entertaining game, I enjoyed playing it much. Good luck with the forthcoming episodes, I hope they will be good too

Just don't make it in a rush, keep the quality :) I've never though a stickman-style game could satisfy my taste, but ~Love to~, this one was good.
