Devil's Sea ready for download!!

Postby Vairon » Sat Feb 07, 2009 2:24 pm

Hello everybody!
What is promised debt, this is online the new website and developing the new project (which would be for the contest).
If you want to view images can access up through the web www.luminystudios.com. I'll go update the content.
For now here's the argument:

In 1942 World War II had been tightened further. Germany urged Japan and Italy to take part in it and they did not
hesitate to support the Fhurer. in the Pacific, Japan developed a campaign against the United States culminating
with the battle of Pearl Harbor. After this victory Japan tried to stop other American enclaves highlighting the battle
of Midway by the mystery surrounding the disappearance of a squadron of Japanese planes in the middle of battle.
The U.S. command said to have been shot down by anti-aircraft guns, the Japanese side tries to explain by unexpected weather changes.

Whatever happens, there were no remains of any of the airplanes.

Released date is for summer, but you know that this depends on many things. I hope to have a demo before.

You've probably told me before, but would you mind sharing which programs you use for modeling and rendering?

No problem Zenoc2, I use Vue6 Infinite fot natural environments,
3D Studio MAX for complex objects and Photoshop for textures.
Sometimes I use some other software for photo retouching to
give the final touch to some images.

But I'm only a beginner, I have a lot to learn.

Vue6, eh? I'll have to try out what ever trial version it was that I downloaded sometime...

I think that SketchUp allows for a good bit more precision than other programs, but that's just my opinion after trying Blender.

Ok, nerd rant over. Can't wait to play this game!

Wish me luck on that one. SketchUp has spoiled me. :P Not that whatever video game company I end up at will be using it.

I added to the web some pictures of interface that I'm creating for the game
(save screen, load screen, inventory...). They are not definitive,
I'm working on them, a lot of script, bufff!.

Hi guys!
I am working hard to have prepared a demo that you can play a piece of the first part of the game.
At the end I decided to do it with the wonderful cubic panorama plugin.
You can try the new interface for inventory screen, save and load screen.
Will have news soon.

Your screens look great. I'm especially anxious to see how you've done the custom save-load. I'm trying to do one too (with a lot of helop from my friends  ). Good luck with this.

Download it NOW: http://www.luminystudios.com

Some considerations:
- Although I tested the demo there may be bugs, it is almost a beta version.
- Images, icons and other elements are under development, which can vary in the final version.
- Save, load and inventory screens are still under development. The final version will include more features such as combining inventory objects.
- The readme file contains a basic guide on how to play Devil's Sea, and use save, load and inventory screens. It is very important that you read it carefully.

NOTE:
You may encounter problems downloading the demo, I have surpassed the rate of discharge from my server (thank you ) and am working on it.

Thanks for your patience and hope you Enjoy.

I've finished the demo. It's a very promising game with nice music and graphics.

Some things you could improve:

1. Spelling - someone should proof read all the text in the game. In the intro, there is an error (Fh?rer instead of F?hrer), the description for the oil barrels is wrong ('seem' instead of 'seems like') and there was also an error in the congratulations text (even if you won't need this in the full version). That's only what I found, so better let someone check it before you release the full version.

2. View - It's very hard to navigate, because when you enter a new scene, sometimes you look into the direction you came from and have to turn around. That's a bit annoying, but I think it's not a big deal to improve it.

3. Hotspots - The hotspots in the inventory menu for the exit and select buttons could be a bit larger. Sometimes the cursor was on the word, but not on the hotspot. This is also just fine-tuning, but it should be done.

Beside that, it's a very impressive demo. You show a lot of talent, especially in building nice 3D environments. And the music was also very nice. I hope it changes during the game. The track I heard in the demo was cool, but it would be annoying to hear it during the whole game. The title song also fits very well with the World War II scenario.

Congratulations, well done.

Thanks guys for your interest.

To General Failure:
- You're right on the spelling, I am Spanish and my English is not very good (you have already noticed)
and lack of time I could not review all of the texts (I use a translator  ).
- View, I had realized, but for the same reason of lack of time I have not solved.
- As for the hotspots, is something that I had not set.
Thanks for your comments.

I must say that I have focused on script of load, save and inventory screens may I have neglected other
aspects of the game. I Hope to solve all these bugs in the final version.

Thank you all and hope to have more comments.
