In Somnia

Postby Mystery » Fri Feb 27, 2009 1:33 am

As you might know, I'm lacking the time for game creation due to my workload. But I can't live without it :P And so I have made a short little game during 2 weekends :)

You find yourself in Somnia. Explore the surroundings, solve puzzles, and find a way out of your dream.

http://www.mysterys-games.ch/in_somnia.exe (12 MB)

You must have the XVid video codec installed before you start the game. You can download the current version from http://www.koepi.info/xvid.html (637 kB)

Thanks reneuend! It's just a little silly game ;)

Btw, I'm sorry I had to fix something, and currently uploading the fixed file. It should be ready in 2 minutes from the same link. If you have already downloaded it, please replace it. Thank you :)

Hey Mystery..:D--woohoo new Mystery game..!~

Is this ready for download now Mystery..? and is the codec in the file..or is that a separate download..?--Looks like it's separate..

.I've never had to use/install a codec or anything before..How do I install it in the game....?..--Sorry if this sounds naive..I've never had to do that before..

Peace

Yep, those 2 minutes to finish the upload are definitely over :lol:
I kept the codec download separate because a part of the players probably has it already (it's part of certain codec packages).
Just install the codec from the link, and then install the game as usual. The game will call the codec when it's needed :)

Thanks Vairon :D

Just as info: From first feedback of players it seems that I haven't chosen the best solution for the switch puzzle. You need to set it and leave the screen in order to something happen.

Thanks again.

Wow! It is short but intense.
Good casual game, and the music is great.

@reneuend
Congrats for finishing! :D
Well, I don't think I'll devote my coming 2 weekends completely to create a sequel, but I'll work on it in the near future. I hope I can release the continuation in March :)

@Vairon
Thank you very much, your nice words mean a lot to me :D
I had to switch to a new (and free) modeler software, so it was also a learning process for me to work with it and with textures, plus with the videos.

@Imari
Erm... You're stuck under a rock? :lol:
I assume you're in the cave, right?
Then check the letters and number just before you go down (you can go back up again to do that), and find a note in the cave. And then... think logically ;)
Btw, as I said, if you set the correct code, nothing will happen until you zoom out again.
Let me know if you need more help :)

The only thing I don't know is how to number the buttons. Up to down or right to left?

Turn to the right in your chair, then you have the correct orientation! :)

I did everything in Art of Illusion, except from sculpting the head (which I did in a trial version of AC3D) :)
For the videos, I've used MonkeyJam to produce the compressed videos from rendered single images.

Hey Mystery..i finally got a chance to play this :)

.. i don't know if this is what is supposed to happen..but u know above the chess--the locked one, there is a paper looking object there with 8 circles..Well when i got the key--unlocked it..and go to the chess..it takes me to the same paper..? I'm not sure if its 2 separate ones..or if its only 1 and im seeing it before i unlock the chess..does this make sense..?

Thanks !~ so far really cool game..!

Hey..those voices scared me a lil bit.. :oops:--I"m by myself over here man... :lol:

*EDIT..*- I'm out..yayy...!! nicely done..I enjoyed that..:D

THanks for posting..!~

Really enjoyed that..!~

Thanks for playing, Mercedes :) I'm happy to hear that you've enjoyed it :D

Sorry about the voices scaring you, but you know, in your dreams weird things can happen ;) :lol:

Sorry, I don't understand what you mean about chess and paper.
Do you mean the device with the buttons/switches in the locked box? If so, what do you mean with "same paper" :?:

Hey Mystery...:D

Do you mean the device with the buttons/switches in the locked box?

Yes thats right..:)

Sorry about that...the device...where the locked box is..I was able to see that before i got the key..When i got the key..i went to the same place and was able to see device..too
I thought maybe it was 2 separate devices..but in playing..it occured to me afterward..It may not have been..

.I'ts a question mark above the chess..I assume that in clicking the question mark before i get the key..it perhaps should have said.."U need a key"..but instead..took me to the device..both times..maybe a variable, or something..

sorry i was calling the device a paper, wasn't sure what it was at first....sorry about that..:D
