USA State Game - Windows

Postby reneuend » Tue Oct 06, 2009 3:20 am

My kids needed to know the state locations on the USA map for school. There are a lot of online games that do a pretty good job, but not exactly what I wanted; besides, it gave me an excuse to build a quick little game for them with AM! :)

It's a bit rusty because they needed right away. I'll update this post as it gets upgraded.

Hi Reneuend!
Sounds great, there are few educational games.
But I have a problem: I'm working with Windows 7 and when I select the first option to play,
I see the error of the image. It is not the first time that happens to me, I happened to others
games made with AM and everything works in XP and Vista, so I thought that could arise from the operating system.

This one is so nice...some time ago I was searching for such a game but what I found wasn't that great. This one is!

I had only 9 before I guessed wrong

Great job reneuend Image

Thanks Lazy!

I'm getting Windows 7 at the end of the month. Looks like I better wait for a new release of AM before installing it....if there will be a new release.

Was the answer for this, using an older version of Media Player? I wonder if there is a library file from an older media player that you could use instead of adding the whole application? I'm guessing that AM uses a DLL from media player.

The official comment is that AM is not recommended to run in Windows 7, and thus is not officially supported in that platform

Great game btw but I 'm geographically challenge. I don't even know all of Greece's provinces... I guess coding rules geography :P

Thanks Doggy.

My kids gave me a hard time while I was building it because they already knew where the states were located and I struggled with the eastern seaboard states.

I can usually get all but 2 or 3 of them correct now. I don't travel a lot...not even in my own country!

Yeah me neither. Actually I 've been in far more places in other countries than in Greece

Good game, only I put Deleware in and it didn't go "Doh" (I got all 50 just wanted to see what happened when you got one wrong) but it didn't turn green.

thx, chickens. It needs work. I'm using around 200 hotspots to try and cover everything. When they defined the state borders, why didn't they make them rectangular?

That would make everything easy. Although Midwest is pretty square, just not Rhode Island and N.Carolina :(

Thanks everyone.

Hey Imari! Yeah. the kids liked it. Of course, they had all kinds of recommendations. Their class is now using it at the school. The teacher has requested several new options.
