Dreamstate 2

Postby Lino » Mon Jan 18, 2010 11:38 pm

Hey guys :D

Man, who would've thought that I could finish a sequel in 2 days.

But anyway, here's the deal. Same theme as the first, you're trapped inside your own dream, and getting out won't be as easy as how you got there.

It uses the Light Effect plugin, so I don't know if that will cause problems for anyone.

Tell me what you think!

I'm currently doing the finishing touches on my own game, but I'll be sure to check out your game tomorrow evening. I look forward to it :D

May somebody give me a hint for the color puzzle? I have no idea at the moment.

By the way there is a bug in both games: After loading an old savegame the music disappear. :(

I know, the music disappears because when you first click to play, thats what starts it. Does anyone know how to fix this? :?

All I can think of is that you start the music with script (instead of the audio tab).

http://www.adventuremaker.com/help/vbsc ... eos_script

Then add to the Project Properties -> Advanced -> "Execute some VBScript code when the project starts or a saved game is loaded" (check this first option) the PlaySound command.

I'm very surprised how you manage to bring such high quality output in such a short time.

Though the story design could be better, the puzzle design is adapted very well and the quality of the graphics is outstanding, especially for the short development time.

I hope you will make sequels to that series while concentrating on story development.

Nice job, well done.

I made an entry about your games in my new blog about 1st person-Adventures: http://1stpersonblog.blogspot.com/2010/ ... te-12.html (It`s in german language).

By the way I`m still stuck with the color puzzle. It would be nice, if somebody could help me.

Take it as motivation to bring out new games. I'd love to see them.

I check your blog daily @General Failure
but most of the games are made with AGS, so I don't leave a comment because I don't like this games much wich are made with AGS.
I always wonder why the autors are using so a small screen resolution for their games, and I don't like this meni with pick up, talk, look and so on.

And the most of the games are still at work.

But it's also nice to see that games are developed over YEARS are in the making of and the autors are most of the time not tired about the project.

So long !

That's just because AGS has a very huge community, very much developers and therefore there are a lot of news to post.

But I check this forum daily and whenever there are news from here, I post them immediatly, because I like this community very much.

Thank you very much!

I'm 16 and I'm in homeschool, so I have plenty of time to work on my
projects. I've been working with both blender & adventure maker for about 5 years now, so it all goes pretty quick. For this series I don't know how a story would fit, seeing as how its just a dreamworld that you're trapped in. But for other games, the story will be a top priority. And yes, I'm planning on making at least one more sequel, maybe more, depends on how the next is accepted. :D

Oh and here's a clue for the color puzzle:

Have you seen the colored spheres in the island house yet?

One more point to have my respect for what you're doing. I can't even imagine what you're doing when you're 30. ;-)

@Lino: I noticed all that hints but I can`t figure out the code although.
@juhuwoorps: AGS is a good engine and you can also use it for 1st person-games (how I`m doing it).

You're talking about the one after you extend the bridge, right?

Well, go to the island house, and see what colors the 2 balls on each pedestal make when put together, then use that combination. :D

I was absolutely confused about the hand-imprints... Thanks for the help. And I`m stuck again. I`ve found the paper with the three numbers but I`ve no idea what to do with it.

Okay, found and used 2 keys, used paddle, used lantern, used crowbar, used square and triangle; and found some hints on papers and walls.

Missing circle still.
Trying to figure out color code :)

EDIT
Yay, figured it out :)
And also got the dots/numbers with help :)

Now on the Roman ciphers.
Btw, there is a little bug. If you back out, and go back, it continues to count despite that it looks like reset.

And now finally out :D
Great job again, this one was pretty tricky.
