DESERT DUNGEON [WINDOWS]

Postby mauvixx » Sun Jul 04, 2010 1:14 am

Hello everyone,

I'm new here and I have played with AM for a couple weeks.

Those are the images of the game I'm working right now.

The name will change, thats because it will be a game divided in chapters, and in each chapter you play from the perspective of one of the main characters, and usually in a different dungeon.

The dungeons wont be very big, and I'm not a huge fan of overly complicated puzzles. I cant play MYST anymore. BORING. (IMHO)
So, I'm trying to make it an interactive story.

The first chapter happens in the Desert Dungeon (hence the name), buried in the sands of the Salkaraa nation.

The first character is a teenage thief who accidentaly runs into the dungeon while attempting to escape from the city guards.

I cant tell much more about the story without ruining it. I'll post later some more non-spoiler information. Just let me think about it first.

I build a new dungeon (last image) so I'm re-rendering the images. The game images will be 1000x600.

There are music and sound-effects.

I'm using the cubic plugin (going to buy it when I finsh the game, unless the developer agree to exchange for a free game copy... ;-) )

There are a little combat, in the old style of fighting fantasy books. (The options a player will have will depend on his inventory items, but unlike books here you cant cheat... :) )

Please tell me what you think...
I'm expecting my new computer to be delivered next week, and with it I will be able to render better graphics. The current machine I have is suffering with my demands...hehe

Hi again everyone.

Thanks for all the encouraging replies.

I'm working on the storyline and making sure that all the character's path will cross each other in many interesting/funny/surprising ways.

I tried my best to prepare a lot of scenes so when I get my new machine I will only need to render them.

However I'm figuring out that I'll spend some time creating the internal artwork, character design for example.

I'll do my best to post a demo soon, but meanwhile I'll keep you guys updated, so here are a few more render tests. (Low res)

OH MY GOD!!!

I finally got my new pc up and running and I found out after testing its rendering performance that it works great, that its, untill i try to run adventure maker and get it crashing every time I use the cubic plugin!!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

I was so happy.. I got double the size, all settings at maximum and a render time of 1m34s against the old time of regular size all settings off and a time of 12m,39s for each image...

But nothing matters as Adventure Maker wont work.... oh..... :(

Cubic Panorama Plugin doesn't work with WIN7, because it needs also the older version of Mediaplayer!

Yes, I got my new pc and it came with Windows 7 32 Bit.

I understand there is also the sound issue but I tried using the cylindrical panorama plugin and it also doesnt work..

I can still render images on this machine and build the game on my old machine (that is still goos enough, except for rendering..) but I was hoping to do all in the new one...

Oh well....

I ended up setting up my new machine with dual boot, so I can run XP Pro or Win 7. I tried using Virtual PC, but AM games don't run very well in it either.
