I haven't coded anything yet, but I am studying the possibility to add an option that allows to walk only on the consecutive hotspots.
Therefore, if there is an obstacle and there is no hotspot on the obstacle (or there is a hotspot on the obstacle, but it is disjoined and unconnected with the hotspots of the pathway), the character won't be able to walk there, and will walk around the obstacle.
