Think

I liked the film, and I could imagine a game like that. If the gore is realistic, the success might be guaranteed because many people play games just for the violence.

Not sure how to make gore realistic and not to fake.

Neither

Neither do I.. the more realistic way of course is to make a game with real actors but usually that doesn't work for noncommercial projects.

I think this would work best with a photograhic Adventure Maker game and it would mean you wouldn't have to worry about designing 3d images. Some digital cameras record mpegs, so you could even create your cut scenes with your actors .
