Game Development History

Postby chickens1127 » Thu Jun 26, 2008 11:14 pm

Welcome to my new thread, I will be teaching people how to create cool games
not in Adventure Maker
. The art of video game development started in the early 1970s, with the Atari 2600 to be the first readibly commercial video game. Soon came smash hits like Pong, Pac-Man, Dig Duge, Galaxian, and more. Soon we reach the early 80s, where a new company sprang out named Nitendo. There first console was the Nitendo Entertainment System, or the NES. Soon they developed a mascot- an Italian plumber named Mario. Soon after the 1983 video game disaster, the SNES appeared, with higher graphics. Soon the 90s approached, and the Nitendo 64 came out, with the Mario series expanding. Soon Sony entered the race, putting out the original PlayStation. Then the 6th generation came out, including the PS2 and the GameCube. And, still, with the market booming, another company enters the race. Microsoft develops the xBox, a smash hit. Going into 2006 Christmas season, the PS2 had sold over 100 million units, and the xBox was immensly popual with there multiplayer named xBox Live. With the GameCube, argubaly Nitendo's worst console developed, went into 2007 with Project Revelution. Turns out, in late 2006, it was exposed. The Wii. Not another console with joysticks, but using motion detection using infared and Bluetooth technology. The console has risen to extreme popularity, with over 15 million sold. Incredibly, the xBox 360 has done extremly well with the expanded xBox Live. And yet, the PlayStation 3, good in it's own way, has been the worst of the trio series.

Thanks for reading, maybe you learned something :)
