Android Adventure Games

Postby ShadowHunter » Mon Oct 11, 2010 8:09 pm

Hi all,

Just wanted to let you know that, even though I still will be arround, I'm gonna focus on my own adventure engine but this engine will be:

1. Creator suite for PC
2. Game engine for Andoid

I strongly believe Android will be a hit (having a Android phone myself) so since I was looking for a new direction...

For however is interested you can soon follow my progress on:

http://androidadventuregames.com

I really hope to finish KeyGuard Studio in the near future, but it now could take longer than promised...

With best regards,

Nice to hear that you are going to make your own adventure engine, but it's a pity that the engine isn't for Windows.

I wish you good luck with your project.

Best of luck with this, ShadowHunter. :D
(I too wish the engine was for PC as well, though.)

Sounds good! I recently got a Windows6 mobile, and after seeing how this works, I am sure Android must have a future, else mobile industry is doomed
Still, a PC engine would rather interest me too.

I second the motion, but since you are going for the Android, I guess I'll have to get one! :-)

Hi all,

Thanks for the support :D

To be honest I'm a bit bored with the current AdventureMaker concept as there is no longer support from GM (read no updates) and I have the feeling there is nothing new that can be added to AM from plugin point of view.

I was really facinated by the speedy workings of Android and the SDK that I decided to go for that: it involves PC & Android (and fast translation to iPhone too)

Besides, I could never get even near engines like WinterMute... so whats the point of creating yet another PC engine

@ShadowHunter: are the games going to be html/javascript based or something else?

Hi,

Still working on the outlines but the general idea is to:

1. Engine/Interpreter in JAVA for Android
2. Designer on PC will create a game DB-file containing all images, code, actions, sounds and so on that can be processed by the engine
3. Both are compiled into an *.APK package

All is still in an very early brain storming phase... just registered the domain already to avoid all good names been taken when Android boosts (like most Google products)

Thank you for your interest.

With best regards,

I just wish that the Android web browser could show animated gifs.
This is such a loss for the system that is otherwise is excellent.
Animations are ok as Apps but not as HTML.
It's one thing that the iPhone has that Androids don't..(yet.)

New data tells that tablets with Android will sell themselves better than notebooks and netbooks! Mobile platforms with Android are the future!

Android service costs $30 per month. That's way outside my budget. :(

As an Android owner, I believe it will be worth the $0.99-$1.99 cost for standard apps if not moreso. Good luck!
My sig changes more often than Doctor Who (see your national BBC channel) regenarates into new melancholy actors. Oh look, Matt Smith! Gerard Butler! Colin Mochrie! That wolf from Twilight: New Moon!

@Shadowhunter, for inspiration you might want to check out Scirra Construct 2 and see how it can be used for making adventure games. Construct 2 games are developed on pc and played on any modern browser supporting html5, with all the bells and whistles like animations, movement and sound. The current beta version seems to have enough functionality for making an adventure game.
