When did you start playing Adventure Games?

Postby mrmyst » Mon May 20, 2013 10:56 pm

Hello,

here everyone who wants it can, write when he started to play adventure games. I'll start (This is no joke, really):

When i was 3 or 4 (i just know that it was in 2001), i already played myst. Of Course, i didn't really understand the Story about Sirrus and Archenar, and i was unable to read the letters, but my Father ( ? 2012) read them out, and explain words like "Spaceship" for me. After some times, i understand for example, the 7-2-4 at the tower means, that i have to enter rhis number in the save. I found a photograph a few days ago, which show me opening the save. Maybe i am going to upload it,

Whats you story? I am sure, that many Members are interestet in your Story.

Best Regards,
Mr. Myst

I honestly can't remember my first adventure game. My first use with a computer was back in the 70's. My favorites were text adventures just before graphical adventures took over in the early 90's. I remember feeling like text adventures could draw you into the story better. I do remember really enjoying Space Quest when it first came out. Roger Wilco will always be my hero and role model! :)

Around 2002 I started playing games and then I wanted to make my own.
Then find it was the next thing I did and here I i'm now.
Please don't PM me questions, ask here in the forums!

Maybe it was around 98/99 with Broken Sword The Smoking Mirror. It was fantastic back then since we didn't have any walk-through available. First, I was stuck at one point on the beach with the cat... then I kinda finished the game. :-)
Stay a while and listen...

Adventure, Zork, Pawn, Hobbit, Twin Kingdom Valley and Dallas Quest which I actually finished. All these were in the 80's with a Commodore 64. I think I liked Twin Kingdom Valley the most because it had interactive NPC's who could pick stuff up and fight on their own.

I had an Atari ST in the late 80's. At that time, there was a product called, "TaleSpin" where you could build your own adventure game. It was very good for its time and even allowed some coding.
