The return of Luminy Studios - UPDATE!

Postby Vairon » Sun Sep 01, 2013 11:53 am

After more than a year without activity by various problems, I'm back to be active. My idea was to learn Unity 3D, because AM does not evolve in any way, but my plans have changed and I will not be able to dedicate the time necessary to Unity 3D. By this I mean that I will continue developing with AM despite its limitations.

At the moment my priorities will be:
?? 1-Put a new website online
?? 2-Create a new game with AM

In that order. I hope to have the web ready before the end of the year and the next project soon you will know more.

I also want to thank all the forum members for your dedication because without them probably AM would be gone.

I'm back! Are you ready?

Best regards, Vairon (Luminy Studios).

UPDATE!

Another design, What do you think?

Easy, number 4

All other logo's, though all nicely designed, makes me think of an engineering bureau or an interior illumination design studio.

4 makes we wanna play a mystery, horror adventure

Hey, I hope you don't mind, but I'd like to give my opinion about the choice of a logo. I did vote for logo 4, and really meant logo 4 (not 1), for the following reasons :

- a logo has to be printable. Logo 4 is on a white background, which is perfect for white paper

- a logo should be declinable. Logo 4 can have its colors inverted (white text + logo on black background) and still be good-looking, whereas logo 1 would be quite strange with inverted colors. I don't think that the logo 1 in black on a white background would be interesting.

- logo 1 reminds me of Blair Witch logo too much. On top of that, I don't see the identity of Luminy Studios in this logo. It looks more like a japanese symbol or something with no meaning. Is there a "L" and a "S" in this symbol, standing for Luminy Studio ?

- logo 4 is smarter than the 3 others : it's less coarse, more suitable for communication thanks to its delicacy. Logos 2 and 4 are good too, but they look more like pre-made cliparts.

- the symbol on logo 1 seems a bit blurry. Is it me ?

....
Well I think that you could try another declinaison maybe :
- the text of logo 1, but with the symbol of logo 4 next to it. That is to say, replace the "blair witch" symbol in logo 1 by the "brain-lamp" of logo 4.

Oh darn! I didn't see the numbers on the logos! I just counted down from top to bottom! I voted incorrectly! LOL!

I like Logo 2. It's very simple, which I think a logo should be. My second favorite is Logo 1, because it's intriguing. Looking at the Poll, I think the votes are backwards. I think most people picked Logo 1, not 4.

Thank to all for your contributions, I have not taken a decision on which logo to choose. Maybe I'll make some changes and I will show.

Thanks again for your opinions.

I can't remember what I voted, I change my mind. I like Logo 1 (at the bottom of your attachments list) It better suits the dark, mysterious these your games take on. While the other ones' have a light bulb symbolizing your puzzles and brain power they don't quits say "Luminy Studios" like Logo 1 does.

Also I must say I am very much looking forward to playing the new and improved blood wood which can run on Win7. I loved blood wood, but it was a short game with only four puzzles. The visuals and story was stunning. But the duration an puzzle creativity was rather lacking. Once I found out you started remaking blood wood my jaw dropped to the ground. I can't wait! It looks excellent! And from what it appears in the screenshots the puzzle and duration issues in the original will no longer be on my complaints list for your remake. Don't disappoint me! (Which I'm very sure you won't)

Congrats for all the hard work and dedication to your projects! I also nervously twiddle my thumbs and tap my feet anxiously waiting for the release of Iborea: The Lost Kingdoms! It's gonna be a blast! :D

Thanks TKG for your nice words! I know that BloodWood have a lot of potential, but it was my first "seriously" project with AM...

Also thanks for your opinion about logos, It's very important for me.

About Iborea... is my opera prima, but I don't know if AM is the correct engine for this game. I'm working hard with AM but GM not seems interested to continue with this software. Only time will tell.

Thanks so much for your support, soon more info about Luminy and our projects.
