allso if you see a cheap copy of MSN's Flight Simulator 2002 or later it comes with a cut down version of 3dmax called G-Max which is a good tool for manufacturing rooms etc etc you can then uninstall Flight simulator if don't want the sim and the G-max program stays put--

Welcome to the home page of Anim8or. Anim8or is a 3D modeling and character animation program that I have written over the past couple of years, not as a commercial endeavor, but because I love 3D graphics, animation, and programming. While it is far from a complete professional level application like 3DStudio MAX or Lightwave, I believe that it has enough capability to be of use to others.

Version v0.9 is now available. Anim8or has come a long way since the first release called v0.1. There are still may areas that need improvement, primarily the renderer, but it's getting close to what I had originally imagined as the magic v1.0. I don't plan on stopping there, but it'll be a nice milestone along the way.

I also suggest creating complex models with the freeware Wings3D, and then import them into another program for the final rendering (such as Bryce, which lacks advanced modelling tools, but is not too bad at rendering).

It'd be nice to split up above aps in freeware and commercial software, as some trials not even allow to save files

Edit: The OpenFX link is outdated, new: http://openfx.org/

I would suggest trying Bryce. That is what I use and after you get used to all the controls, it gets very easy. Also, Bryce is now sold by Daz at www.daz3d.com. (not Corel).

3D Studio Max is what I use to make the graphics for some of my 3D games...

But I don't have a commercial liscense so I can't sell them for profit...

But that's okay, I don't intend to!

I've seen Bryce mentioned a lot, but nobody's mentioned Daz3d's DAZ|Studio, which is their flagship product. It's mentioned in a thread below, but not here on the main "hot" list.

http://www.daz3d.com/i/software/daz_studio3?_m=d

This is a "posing" program, which can be used with purchased models or premade models. I prefer to purchase models (or get them free), and then morph them so they look different from the norm. If you're rendering them as images, (as you would be for AM), those images are yours to use commercially in any way. You can NOT use the actual models in a 3d game engine, however; although there was some gossip last year Daz was trying to figure out a way around that.

They also recently made ALL of their base models free, so that now you have an immediate full range of figures to use in the program. You can get them all here, (including a bunch of other stuff): http://www.daz3d.com/i/3d-models/free-3d-models?cat=382&_m=d&trid=353596997

Every week, Daz posts one item for free to their newsletter, and if you spend $7/month on their Platinum Club, you get a $5 voucher and hundreds of products reduce in price to $1.99. This is the best way to get models, imo. Grab the freebie every week, pay your $7 (which is really $2, if you subtract your coupon), and buy stuff for $1.99 each. (And watch out for sales! My first year as a customer, I got massive bundles worth over $200 each on sale for $1.99 during one of their Members' Choice sales.)

Daz3d is a software which to work with half nude models. I have read some reviews that daz3d not prefer for the children . because of it I am always aware not to mention in commen place or sites.( my view could be wrong)

there is another software 'makehuman'. also better one. but also make nude models. google for 'makehuman'

i use now faceGen Modeller. to make someone photo to 3D face and as image using to my games
http://www.facegen.com/modeller.htm

Now I have downloaded Iclone movie free, can make 3D face with photo
figure animation. but not fully tested

The models ARE unclothed when you bring them into the scene, in many instances. They HAVE to be. If they weren't, you'd never be able to select their clothing and dress them yourself.

There is nothing inherently erotic or "adult" about Daz models, of themselves. It all depends on how you use them. There are many sexy outfits available for Victoria 4, so I'm sure some people are using them that way - however, that's all personal choice. There are also erotic outfits available, but most of those are available through outside vendors, and DAZ 3d will not broker them. They promote themselves, specifically, as family friendly. Any nudity available with their figures is strictly artistic nudity and optional. All figures come with base textures that make them look like Barbie dolls (no physical features), and it's up to you to decide what kind of skin you want to put on them.

There's absolutely no reason to be wary of mentioning them in a family friendly forum. They are not "adult content" vendors.

It appears to me that Art of Illusion is not mentioned yet.

Art of Illusion is a free, open source 3D modeling and rendering studio. Many of its capabilities rival those found in commercial programs. Highlights include subdivision surface based modeling tools, skeleton based animation, and a graphical language for designing procedural textures and materials.

Art of Illusion also has many plugins that are available to download.

Just looked at that

Postby Harvester » Mon Jun 07, 2010 10:18 am

I just looked at that, it looks promising! Quite many features, fast rendering, the interface seems to be easy to use... I'll see if I can do something serious with it, but I guess it's possible... and I'm not yet sure if any exported formats will give perfect results with other rendering softwares. Thanks for the add!

Sculptris is a fairly new 3d modeling program. It's free, and has the simplest interface of any program I've seen. It's focused primarily on modeling as sculpting, which makes it incredibly easy (and fun!) to use. You can paint textures directly on the model, and export both model and textures to common formats.

Because it's focused on sculpting, I'm sure it's missing some fancy features available in other packages. You'd need to create the model and textures inside Sculptris, then export it into something else to render it for AM scenes, or to rig it for animations. However, it is excellent as a single-focus tool in your arsenal. As an easy-to use modeling program, where all you do is mold the object like clay, and then paint it, it can't be beat.
