Poser is the thing for you!

THIS JUST IN: Poser is awesome for making 3-d Nancy Drew games-ish characters.

FEATURES: WALK DESIGNER,
CUSTOM EDIT (Taper, Size and the like),
and MANY PRE-MADE MODELS.

(Sorry, there's also Morphing and realistic hair in the newer versions, but ask some1 else for that!

It would have been great if you had added a link to that software, too :)

Here it is:

Poser is good for people with a lot of cash, however DAZ Studio does almost the same thing and it is free! ;) Just spend a little for Bryce and you can bridge both together for unlimited possibilities! Bryce can create panoramic images too!

If you intend to use 3D freebies here and there make sure you read the license of use and their copyrights. If in doubt, contact the person who created the freebies.

Obviously, using Poser, Daz Studio and/or Bryce will make you spend to some degree. 3D in general is expensive. Especially if you cannot model.

D/S and Bryce links...

Other 3D links of interest.... Most have freebies...

The earlier versions (ala Poser 4) are cheaper than the later ones (ala Poser 6, Poser 7, and Poser Pro) but you get not so good results.

Right, anyways. Poser 4 is good for characters, but I'd also reccomend Bryce and Daz. But I've also tried Maya, it's OK as well.
