Sculptris is a work-in-progress 3D sculpting tool.
Currently there is a first alpha version out without support for textures.
The created objects can be exported as .obj file.

I look forward to the further development of this interesting tool :)

Maybe there is hope for us folks that don't know how to build 3d computer models!

Hehe, I just made a quick model in Sculptris, added color in Art of Illusion, and animated it in CrazyTalk - all done in 20 minutes!

(Lol, I know that the voice doesn't really fit  )

The voice syncing and expressions were good. Is there a way to add hair? I hope the developer adds abilities for skins, etc.

nice example!

Yes, I think this tool has a LOT of potential. This is just the first non-stable alpha release. I really hope that the developer keeps working on it, and adds features Smile

Lol, you asked for hair? Here you go :P

UPDATE
Made another head, and added hair in Art of Illusion (using the hairy script). Sorry, the quality has become much worse due to the conversion from wmv to flv on uploading it to Photobucket.

I like the second one...not bad at all!
I hope the developer sees the potential in this tool and continues to work on it!

Thanks Imari & reneuend :D

Being that I'm not really skilled when it comes to art, I certainly need some practice. But as you see, my 3rd try has reached an acceptable quality, and the time invested was not much at all. Additionally it would be certainly possible to texture the head instead of just using a color (especially the lips may need some painting  ).

Hey that is neat...and useful..for animations..!~..to me the lip synchronizing to the voice..isn't always necessary..in terms of movements...It's only necessary that it coincides together when the audio-stops..Just something i've noticed in animations..:D..

Animated characters..this has a lot of potential..

Can u do a full body..Mystery..?..does it offer that..I'll have to look further into of course..I've yet to look thoroughly at it..the site itself..

Thanks for posting..!~..20 minutes..cant' be that..:D

Thanks Mercedes :D

I guess it would be possible to create full bodies with Sculptris, I haven't experimented with that yet.
But I can also think of putting a character together - head made in Sculptris, body in another software.
I guess there are different possible techniques.
And I'm still at the beginning of my experiments

Not to alarm anyone but make sure you scan this with your anti-virus before installing. Mine scanned a heuristic virus in the zip file of this software.

Thanks for the report, ZW :)

Do you happen to use Norton?

By the software author:
The application is classified as a low-risk "potential threat" by some antivirus products (only Norton, it seems). This seems to be based on some measured characteristic of the executable code and should be harmless. You decide.

I am always doing some scans (not only AV) before I use any software - all that I am using did not find anything. Heuristic detections happen often even with pre-installed games on the computer from official game development studios (happened to me in 2 cases, lol).

Here is the report from VirusTotal:
