Wow, already announced? :)

Got some questions already:
Okay, so a sleazy hotel is a very cheap hotel, right?
And does the whole game need to be inside the hotel, or can there be other locations aswell?

Oh, by the way, will we be able to open topics to show some pics of our projects? Or we must keep them anonymous until the final day?

Yes, I'm looking forward to them :)

But it's just pity that we have some limits now, I was hoping to be able to submit a demo of the game that I've been working on. Unfortunately it just doesn't match with the topic given, so I need to make something else. :(

Hope that I'll be able to finish a game for the contest. :)

I could help test PSP games if you want...

EDIT: Have there ever been contests with NO LIMITS?

At least

Postby Harvester » Wed Jul 04, 2007 10:53 am

The last contest had at least no limits in story, and I think the limits of that one was not impossible to keep.

Yes, you are right :) It's just that I was a bit sad not being able to submit a demo of the game that I've been working on. So I need to put it away for a while...

But I finally have a story for the new game that I plan to submit, and I'm working now on the graphics and animated cut-scenes.

I just hope that I'll be able to finish it despite of the lots of things that I need to take care of at the moment ;)

Count me in too.

I'm too noobs in Adventuremaker.

But have experience in making adventure games. (Yes, Yes, with Visual Basic....) :D And I want the 2nd place......(I'm sure I won't get it).

BTW, I have some questions

Q1.Can I use external programs? (e.g. for simulating keypress or to run the cmd.exe ..... You know)

Q2.I do not have the full version. So is it possible that I send a redistributable package (ami) ?

Q3. Does the hotel room need to be the 1st room?

Q4. Can the prizes be sent via e-mail (or a download link) ?

I think that would be ok.
Shafayat wrote:Q2.I do not have the full version. So is it possible that I send a redistributable package (ami) ?

If the ami file does not work I may ask for the project folder so I can compile it. but you you can give the ami file.
Shafayat wrote:Q3. Does the hotel room need to be the 1st room?

no just be in the game
Shafayat wrote:

I know some are not happy with the rules about using the house and dog but I want everyone to have the same chance to win so everyone was starting new and not able to enter a demo they have been working on before the contest.

Not that I am unhappy with the decision, however, maybe you should give more time for making the adventure. Some of us are pretty busy daily with work and what not. At this point, I may even quit the participation. As I am doing all the artwork, the music, the animations, the sounds, the story etc... It is a lot for one person in such few weeks. I am not even at 10% of completion, right now. :(

Hehe, Looks like I've gone much further. Almost 50% Men!

Actually, I just thought out the story. That makes half of the work done.

Well, I'm working alone, too. And I'm not sure either if I can finish it until the deadline.

On the other hand, I think that we need to lower our own high expectations. It's clear that we can't do the optimum, and create a perfect and long game in just 2.5 months additionally to our other duties (job, family etc.).

So either we make a simpler game (and use partly free and legal artwork made by others), or finish 1-2 demo chapters of a game that we intend to extend later on. :)

Hope that you didn't intend to motivate us to get into conflict with each other, lol  :D Sorry, just a joke

Guess we'll do our best, and let's see what is going to happen :) I'm sure that the games that will be finished and submitted, will be fine :)

Count me out as a participant folks. I will never make it in time at this rate. :( However, I may judge if it is possible by then. Hard to say with the current commissions I have.

I will simply buy the commercial version from GM instead of trying my luck. It would probably encourage him and his AM software a bit more anyway. AM is really good and it is now my favorite editor software type. I love all the potential possibilities we can do with it. :D

Mystery, I did not want to surpass myself lol. However, I render everything for AM in 3D, Models I purchased or models I built myself. Just one picture can take overall 4 to 5 hours in 2048X2048 for panoramic scenes and a few more for 1200X1600 reduced to 600X800 for standard ones. Multiply that with 50 or more frames. :P Just one animation can take days if it contains hundreds of frames. I did not want folks to play in just two frames. Not that would have been bad. lol

By the way, I would not suggest anyone to use too much "net" content... picking and using some stuff online may look sweet or sound innocent for an AM contest. However, folks take copyrights seriously, especially in the field I work in. Someone may tell you his or her pics or music is legal and so on... However, unless you do the stuff yourself, or pay someone with a signed contract and have some sort of license, which protects both parties, you never know for sure. Even if is for non-commercial projects.

Candle, lol good one! You love your books do you not? :P
