Demo Game

Postby Tombo » Thu Nov 15, 2007 8:15 pm

Hi all

After owning the commercial version of Adventuremaker for a while now I've began working on a game. It's based around a band I work with, both musically and behind the scenes, called 3 Blind Mice. The idea is, once it's completed, to either give it away or for a minimal price, sell to members of their fan club. The aim will be to complete the game and get an exclusive video of the band playing.

As you will probably tell, graphics aren't my strength so I've cut and pasted various graphics to create new "scenes".

The idea of the demo is to get out of the house. Any observations, feedback etc. will be gratefully recieved.

The demo is about 15 Mb in size and can be found at

I've downloaded and started it, though I haven't finished yet.
The screens look good and also the sound is very nice :)

So far I have found the following:
- Although there is a look/take possibility for the note, when I click it, it automatically gets picked up. In addition, it can be picked up multiple times.
- Image above fireplace: Look/walk makes no difference, maybe you could do it the same way as with the newspaper.
- Clicking on photo in bedroom doesn't do anything though the cursor changes. :?
- This might be only my problem, but I had a bit of difficulties at the beginning to navigate between rooms / to find the hotspot in the corners.
- One bigger problem I had: There is no exit function, also ESC doesn't work, so I had to abort with task manager and set back my usual display settings manually. I think that it is absolutely important that players can quit the game at any point.

And for the content, hehe I'm not sure what the note is referring to, I see 2 possibilities but none of them worked so far

Hi Candle

Thanks for that. You can exit the game using X (I have used Shadow Hunter's KeyGuard routine. It does however takes you out of the game without an "Are You Sure?" type of screen. Obvious thing to add first of all is an initial help screen with the key options :)

I'll also make those exits to other rooms a bit larger and re upload the demo.

Umm... I'm still Mystery

Oh, yes that would be a good idea to let the players know about the key shortcuts :)

Let me know when you have re-uploaded it, then I'll try to finish it this time :D

No worries, you're not the first one in this forum to rename me
I've downloaded it, but it's too late to try it today. I'm going to play it tomorrow, and let you know how far I come ;)

EDIT
I've seen that you've fixed the things I've mentioned :)
And also the option to quit the game was clear now.

Hehe, but I'm still stuck with that code, and could only find that note
