How To Use AdventureMaker

Postby Crazygamemaker » Sun Nov 04, 2007 2:47 am

Well this is not a game but it might be a very useful project. I am working on a project that runs like a video but it's kinda interactive. It will show first time users of AdventureMaker how easy it really is.It will also show users that have not much knowledge of the basics like going from one frame to another how to do that.I will work on several projects like that. The first one is approximately half way done.It is titled How to use Adventure Maker:The BasicsI hope it will become useful to many. :D

I hope I can get my laptop working again so I can upload a small preview.
Its getting on my nerves. :x

Sounds good

Sounds good as AM doesn't even have tutorial videos yet (like other engines), and this sounds better than tutorial videos, so good luck, nice of you to help newbies. :)

Ok,here is a small preview. :D
Even though it's kinda short,it still took me a while, but I think its gonna be worth it  It runs in a window for obvious reasons. So that the person can look at my project while they run AM so they could recreate what they learned.Like I've said before,I hope it becomes very useful. :D

Hi,

Very nice! Congratulations!

Just for your information, there is a short video guided tour of Adventure Maker that was made several days ago and that will appear on the AM website at the time when AM 4.4.0 is released.

The video is 5 minutes and 41 seconds long (plus end titles). I was planning to wait for the release of AM 4.4.0 before announcing it, but I don't want you to think that I have copied your idea, so I prefer to announce it now.

I will preview it on the forums as soon as I manage to upload it to some good broadcasting website (YouTube, Veoh.com, Blip.tv...). I am still comparing such websites because there are noticeable video quality differences, and some of them make it easier to upload large file sizes. I will keep you updated.

Anyway, your tutorials will certainly complement the video tour, because the video tour is very short, very general, and it is not really a tutorial.

Again, congratulations!

Very nice Crazygamemaker :)
I'm sure that showing first steps to new users is a good idea :)

Just as a sidenote: I've seen a small typo in the list of the transitions, "alphablend" was spelled incorrectly, in case you'd like to fix it for later versions :)

And I'm also curious to see GMs video ;)

Good luck to both of you :D

Thanks for the suggestion Mike. It's very good! Too bad it requires people to have the DivX web player installed.

This looks like a really great project.

I'm doing something called 100 Adventure Maker Visual Basic Techniques, but that's only going to be a webpage...

Are you going to be doing anything else like this?

True.

When do you think it'll be finished?

Thanks.
Although I don't know if I will be continuing after I finish the first part due to the fact that the Video Guided Tour is WAY better than this. :)
