Lute player

Postby The Librarian » Mon Dec 10, 2007 11:02 pm

I'm still very much in the experimenting stage, getting to know AM. So I have built this scene. What I want to do next is make a small project that starts with a dark picture of the lute player. When the picture is clicked, music starts to play. I like to try out Music Maker, you see!

Sorry for the wide-angle lens which makes the image a little "distant". I will change that later. The image was modeled and rendered with Blender (100% free and a huge number of functions).

Hope you like it.

Great job! I have tried Blender and it didn't really work out for me. It was too complicated for me. But I like your style!

Thank you all for the kind comments. :)

cpkspikyhair: I agree that Blender is complicated. Don't think I am some sort of wizz-kid. It took me a long time to learn it and I can't remember how many times I've flung the Blender manual through my room out of frustration.
:?

On the other hand, much of my technique has nothing to do with Blender or any other 3D package. I've spent a lot of time learning about general 3D techniques like modeling, texturing, lighting. If you know how to do that, it doesn't matter what 3D package you use, because they all work with these same techniques.

I use Blender mainly for two reasons:
1. it's free
2. it's fast
And perhaps also a little because the Blender Foundation is in the Netherlands.

Thanks alala777!

I'll see if I can cook up some easy Blender tutorials (after the holidays) especially for making rooms for games. I really think that is the main problem: lack of beginners tutorials with a specific purpose. Blender isn't difficult if you know what to do, but the interface looking like the cockpit of a jetplane confuse many people.
