Hmmm, there can be a very short delay until the sound starts, but it shouldn't take several seconds...
Maybe it is just your pc that needs so long? Do you have the possibility to try it out on another pc and see if the same problem occurs there, too?

Well... i?m gonna try in another PC. But it?s strange because my PC is a Pentium D with 1GB Ram... but my video is onboard ( :x argh....) and my Windows is Vista. And i?m using the Rippling Water FX.

Hi,

When the sound is supposed to play, are you also making other actions, like going to another frame or starting a video? This may slow it down if it takes a while to load the other frame or to finish the other action.

Otherwise, if you are making no other action, it may be due to the sound file that you are using. Can you make a test and try using a short WAV file intead, just to see if the slow down is still there?

Well, there?s no video scenes in my game... and the sounds i?m using is mp3 format. I installed the AM 4.4 several times, because sometimes the AM stoped to work... My Windows is Vista.

I just give up... :?
I?m gonna send my game with the sounds problems. Maybe the problem is with the Windows Vista. :)

Do so :)
I have XP and I'll see if I experience the same problem or not.

After long days trying to fix the sound problems in my game, i finally solved the problem, but then a new problem appears: now, when the gamer picks an object, the music stops... Oh dear... I?m starting to be unhappy :(

Does the music stop temporarily or permanently? I mean, does it resume after a few milliseconds?

The music stop permanently. When i click in a object, the music just stop...
But the sound effects don?t stop.

Just to better understand:
Have you assigned sound effects when the player picks up an object? Or what sound effects do you mean?

Could it be that you use the same channel for music and sound effects?
Or that you have set in the hotspot properties that the sound of a certain channel stops when the hotspot is clicked? :?

From a technical point of view, AM sees no difference between a sound effect and a music file. So it is pretty odd that something happens with music but not with sound effects.

Therefore it may have something to do with the channels you use, as Mystery suggested.

Why don't you try Microsoft VirtualPC. Set it up and install a copy of windows XP. then try your game in it.

And goodluck for the contest. I'm in it too. :)

I'm glad to hear that you have been able to solve the problem. :)
However it's strange that this problem occured for Vista :?

Hi,

I have been contacted by a person who is encountering the same audio delays described on this topic by Dalton.

Dalton, in your message from January 23, you said that:
Dalton wrote:After long days trying to fix the sound problems in my game, i finally solved the problem, but then a new problem appears: now, when the gamer picks an object, the music stops... [...]

Can you please tell us how you solved the initial problem? (i.e. the problem of the audio delay)

It seems to me that you solved it BEFORE reinstalling Windows, so how did you solve it?

Thanks a lot,
