Making a document/note/

Postby mercedes » Sat Mar 22, 2008 4:07 am

Hi there..i was wondering if anyone knew how to make something that the user/player can read....like a note..that they pick up is this possible.?

I don't really want to create it on a frame..but if this is the only alternative..so be it..:)

I wanted it to be something that the user found as a note..say somewhere in the house..

Thanks..I've tried to make a document into jpg..open it with different apps...to no avail...

also tried exporting to pdf...being as it supporst jpg ..

I would appreciate any ideas..

Many thanks..!:D

I have free version..

create an icon of the document.
Make the player get it by leaving it somewhere in the house.
Then create a hotspot on a table for example, drag 'n' drop the item on it and make it so it goes to another frame. The other frame should be the document (import it in jpeg). Then use a timer in the frame's options to go back to the last frame or create a hotspot to do so... It's your call.

This was used in a game created with AM 3.5 I 've played (I don't remember the title, but it was from a greek developer...)

Are you saying import it in there...? It didn't work there either...now that I think of it...i may have made this in wordpad...not word..and imported in word..copy and pasted it actually..

could be why its not working..

I'll try it again.."rewriting it"..in word...

I'll post back..

Thank you very much..!:D

copying and pasting is wht i did wrong i think...why its not working..also used coloured borders and fonts..

We'll see..:) I hope this works..no reason why it shouldn't other than that reason alone...

I was being lazy...LOL..

Hi mercedes,

Just like Lyberodoggy said, you can make your jpeg including text with Paint, or with any other graphic program, like Photoshop, Gimp etc... Paint is included in your Windows programs so it should be fast and easy to use in that purpose. Just open Paint, add some text and save as jpeg. Of course, if you want add more complicated effects you may want to use some other program as Paint is quite simplistic in this matter...

It will not let me do this..I have tried it many times..

it tells me that MSPAINT cannot read this file..ive tried opening with paint and copy and paste...no worky..

i had to actually print it out a few times at that..cause the font was too big..my fault there..

but ya print it out ..then scan it back into my pc..cause then its recognized as a scan..jpg....so stupid..i used to be able to with word but now i have open office..so maybe it won't allow it..not sure..

but thanks for reply..:D

Okay. Here is what you do. Read this carefully.

1. Open your document in Microsoft Word.
2. Open up Microsoft Paint (most of the time it is just called Paint).
3. In Paint, click on the "A" on the left toolbar.
4. In Paint, click and drag the mouse pointer from the top-left corner to the bottom-right corner.
5. In Microsoft Word, highlight your text, right-click it, and click "Copy".
6. In Paint, press "Edit" on the top toolbar and click "Paste".
7. Exit Microsoft Word.
8. In Paint, click out of your text box.
9. Click "File", then "Save".

You are done!
