Adventure Maker v4.5.1 RELEASED! One-Click Sell and more!

Postby GM-Support » Tue Apr 29, 2008 4:39 pm

Hello,

While working on the cubic panorama plugin (see the other thread), we have also been working on other features of Adventure Maker, as well as fixing bugs. So here is an update of Adventure Maker containing those other improvements.

Download:

You can download the new version 4.5 of Adventure Maker from the link below (16MB, v4.5.1 build1). As usual, this is a free update.

http://www.adventuremaker.com/files/am451.exe

One-Click Sell:

The main new feature is called one-click sell. It allows you to publish and sell your iPhone/iPodTouch games with just one click!

To do that, Adventure Maker has partnered with iGiki.com, one of the leaders in the iPhone/iPodTouch games portal and gaming community.

This means that you can now concentrate on the game design and we care about the rest:

  • You can have your game automatically uploaded to the iGiki servers and hosted by them for free
  • You can have your game listed on iGiki.com, which gives you a lot of exposure for free
  • You can customize how you want your game to appear and how you want to license it: you can make it available for free, or you can sell it.
  • Selling your game has never been easier. All you need is a PayPal account, and you get your payment every month!
You don't need to have an actual iPhone or iPodTouch to develop such games: you can develop and test them on your PC using your web browser.

If you are developing a PC game, you may take this opportunity to:
  • Create an iPhone/iPodTouch version of your game (it can be a simplified or shorter version for example)
  • Create a small separate game that you will use to advertise your full PC game, or to attract more people to your website

Other Improvements:

Other improvements since v4.4 include:

  • Resizable frame editor window (particularly useful for working with panoramic frames)
  • Fast loading of savegames even for games with thousands of variables (previously, it could take up to 1 minute to load a game with 3000 variables for example)
  • New "Yes to all", "No to all", and "Cancel" commands in the window that asks you whether you want the imported pictures to be automatically resized to fit the game resolution
  • Possibility to select and remove multiple variables from the lists that are under the "Variables" tab of the Hotspot Properties

    Image
  • Bigger "Load Project" and "Save Project" windows of Adventure Maker
  • New VBScript command named Action.ResetRemovedHotspots to reset the "Hide this hotspot (permanently)" commands. This is particularly useful to create a custom "Start New Game" button in your game menu.
  • Improved behavior when clicking the browser "Back" and "Forward" buttons during an HTML game or a game for iPhone/iPodTouch
  • Fixed the bug that prevented loading a savegame in a panoramic game (both for the cylinder and the cubic panoramas)
  • Uninstalling a game created with Adventure Maker no longer displays a warning about shared system files
  • New option under the "Distribution Options" window when creating an executable, allowing to not encrypt the extension of the files (useful for fixing the "does not match the file format" bug)
  • Probably fixed the bug that prevented launching .AM1 files from a Chinese Windows (still to be verified)
  • Possibility to evaluate the Advanced tab of the "Question Properties" window from the Free Edition
  • Further improved Vista compatibility

Yes, just save and run the file, and follow the on-screen instructions to install it.

You don't need to uninstall the previous version of AM to install this one.

If you have the full version, just follow the same procedure to unlock it.

No, sorry you can't.

I guess you are talking about the compiler for HTML/iPhone/iPodTouch.

The Back/Forward navigation now works as it should (they navigate outside the game: previously, no matter how many times you clicked "Back", you could not quit the game!).

Do you know of other bugs regarding the compiler for HTML/iPhone/iPodTouch?

No problem mercedes, just download the v4.5 from the link above, and then unlock it in the same way as v4.4.

How good do your games have to be? lol

I guess someone like me with no programming skills wouldnt be able to sell any of my games, huh? The only programming I know is basic HTML and I dont use it often enough to remember everything. I still have to use a cheat sheet now and then.
