Make a GIF IMAGE using GIMP..

Postby mercedes » Sun Aug 10, 2008 6:00 am

First off I make my pictures in Paint..and use Gimp for transparency~ For better quality save your image from Paint as a 24bit BMP.>>OPEN WITH>> GIMP.

I will post how to do Letters as well as an ordinary Image..Keep in mind these images are done fast..:P

See image of KNIFE..

Start off making the knife in paint if you will.......Then add a Black backround..keep in mind if you use black in the image itself..Choose a color for the backround that is not in the image itself.

Open it with GIMP...Go to"Select"menu choose "Select by Colour"
Then click the BLACK part of image..
Go to "Layers" menu and choose"Transparency>>Add Alpha Transparency"

At this point u won't see anything...~

Then to to "Edit" menu..and choose "Clear"

At that point you will see the backround where the Black part was turn grayish with with little squares...

Now you can save it..Choose FILE>> SAVE AS>>GIF image>>

It will prompt you to >>Export>>hit OK..>>> And OK again..

THats it your done..:)

Also if there are other parts of the image that you want to set Transparent..You can use the "Erasor" as well.

Same technique for the letters...Only with the letters you may see parts where its jagged..You can choose to view it in 200% or more..and click them..and choose CUT from the EDIT menu..Or use Erasor..
