Manipulating the Dialogue Wizard

Postby reneuend » Sun Jan 11, 2009 11:01 am

The url below contains a MS Word document and example game to show you how you can manipulate the AM dialogue wizard.

 Note: AM's Dialogue wizard contains a bug, but I was able to find a way around it. Please see Word document for specifics.

With this tutorial, I will show you how to switch the dialogue between the user and character to make a more versatile conversation. I also used multiple frames for a single conversation to make this work.

:!: Warning! The example is a bit corny!

:( If you just want the document and not the cool example, you can just grab the attachment!

DialogueObject(1).caption="anything"
Makes the first question transform into "anything"

Hi Lyberodoggy. I'm glad you're looking at it.

Could you show me what you mean by using the DialogueObject(1).caption method on the first question? Do you mean in the intro frame or the Solid01 frame?

I've tried before to use the DialogueObject(1).caption in the frame properties along with the Dialogue wizard, but the caption from the frame properties doesn't display when the wizard is used on the same frame.

You can change the question by using the .caption property, during runtime

I've tried changing it during runtime, but it gets trumped by the dialogue wizard, and so the caption from the DialogueObject(1).caption never gets displayed. That's one of the reasons I used multiple frames for a single conversation. :(

My sig changes more often than Doctor Who (see your national BBC channel) regenarates into new melancholy actors. Oh look, Matt Smith! Gerard Butler! Colin Mochrie! That wolf from Twilight: New Moon!
