AM game doesn't work after installation

Postby Gabe » Sun Feb 22, 2009 12:44 am

Hi everybody! After some weeks I finally finished my game. It works fine if you play it using AM, but when you create the .exe, install the game and play it normally, it doesn't work. In my game there is a video at the beginning, then there's some kind of advertisement and then comes the main menu. The video plays perfectly, and the advertisement too (it is just a text in a blank frame, NOT a JPG image) but the menu never shows up (It IS a JPG image)

The following file is missing:
C:\Program Files...................\Frames\TITLE.JPG

This file may have been moved or removed from its original location. The program may not work properly until the missing file is placed back in its original location. Press 'Esc' and then click 'Exit' to quit.

After that the game crashes. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

This is a common issue. The encryption is blocking the image loading.

There's an option to disable the encryption in music files and images in the compilation properties. Just go there and check it, then recompile your project.

Doggy, I didn't know this could be the problem for .jpg files :? In the compilation properties you can only set the encryption option for videos and sound files, not for images. Images and icons are always encrypted, aren't they?

@Gabe
Welcome to the forums :)
The options that Lyberodoggy mentioned are in the "Distribution Options" in the "Other" tab, that shows up once you have clicked the "Create Executable" option.
Have you checked if TITLE.JPG is in the Frames folder with the exactly same name?

Hi there...:)

I just wanted to add...there may be a possibility that it could be missing..I would just add it again to my game..If u go to Manage Resources and go to AReas folder..make sure that jpg is in there--Also like Mystery said..in the FRames folder....then recompile..Hopefully that works..!

I"m thinking there may be a chance it got lost or renamed..?

Peace..

Also make sure the extention of the image matches the extention stated (.JPG)

.jpeg, .jpg, .JPEG won't work.
